I feel ya, GreenDay:

I had your problem. Back in your age, I weighed close to 170 lbs. That's really FAT. Thank goodness I'm not fat anymore, but still, I know it sucks for you that other peeps at school would pull prez and HW guy jokes on you >_<.

The Atkins Nutritional Approach has done wonders for me. I've been on it for a running 4 years now. If you got any money, I'd suggest buying the book so you can read it. If not, well, there's always Google lol.

The other posts the other guys made are good tips, and I concur. You really want to stick to fat and protein as your main energy sources, and limit the good carbs and eliminate the bad ones.

The overall trick of the diet is to switch your metabolism to a fat-burning one. A metabolism that burns fat instead will stabilize your blood sugar, because your insulin won't be going OUT of WHACK. Not only would the diet help you lose weight, it can keep your cholestrol levels to a healthy level and save you from the horrors of DIABETES!!!

But the Atkins book has most of the specifics that would be too exhaustive on my part to cover in this thread. I wish you the best of luck on your weight loss, Green Day.

Do you know some fat people get expensive invasive surgeries to decrease the size of their stomachs? Then they proceed to stretch them back out again because they never changed their habits.
Hey Crazy, isn't that disadvantageous? Doesn't your metabolism SLOW down when you skip meals and go without eating? You really do want to keep your metabolism up in order to lose weight at a good rate.

And I know it doesn't have to be a SHITLOAD of food, but it has to be something efficient for your stomach to work on. As a general rule, I always eat something every 6 waking hours of the day, but not directly before sleep.

Maybe it's just my experience, I always feel horrible when I go without eating.

remove all foods white in color, eg: sugar, pasta, bread, rice, flour. replace with brown equivalents, eg: whole grain rye, raw sugar (NOT REFINED), brown rice, whole large oatmeal (no quick make shit)etc, unbleached flour, etc.

+

remove all dairy products too. do not substitude with soy products. excessive soy is known to have many negative effects on the body.

+

lots of water,

+

5-6 meals a day

+

green tea vitamins, YES you heard me right. green tea has a lot of weightloss properties.

+

min. of 45 mins of CONTINUOUS excercise 3 times a week min.

that is a start. once you get use to eating healthy you just get more hardcore.

p.s don't do the atkins diet, negative long term effects are not worth the short term benifits. there is nothing wrong with carbs. you just need to eat the right types of carbs. complex carbs = good, what you want to be eating.

if you do decide to incorporate excercise into you regime. do it on an empty stomach before breakfast for the best results. then end the workout with a whey protein drink.

dieting in general is garbarge. just make smarter eating choices. anything of too much is not good for you.

eating unlimited amounts of bacon and ribs cannot possibly good for your arteries. basic logic i guess.

Don't go for building muscle this early. I don't know much (hell, what is GCSE P.E. worth?) but still, trying to build up big guns whilst you're still "developing" (so to speak) I believe is not recommended. Yeah, building up muscle endurance is fine, but be careful with muscle growth.

That's because bacon and ribs have plenty o' fat.

I'm going for a low-mid carb/high protein diet right now and it's working wonder. I've gained 15 pounds in the last 2 months. It's a lot of chicken/tuna/pasta/chickpeas and supplements, but it works great.

Dieting is garbage if you don't know what you're doing. If you do, dieting is the best thing in the world, it's that old adage, you are what you eat. If you have a goal for your body, adjusting your diet is the best thing you can do.

It works well done right. As I suspected Tu was voicing an opinion that was based on a straw man as opposed to a sensible diet change.

Right now I'm at my highest fat% and weight ever. I've been on a bulk the last year or so. However, I've hit 4.7% bodyfat twice in the past.
