you know it ticks me off everytime I hear this...

Waaaaa the sniper needs to be nerfed or removed.

I hear that for every class. If its not the sniper they are complaining about its the pyro because of the damage he can possibly do.

If its not the pyro, its the scout. If its not the scout its the soldier.... you get the point.

There are many people who hate a class either because they can't play it or they are always getting killed by it.


Snipers are meant to kill people long distance. People just need to learn ways of getting past them. The other night there was this one guy that kept complaining about the snipers owning him, he never tried to go out another way, he never tried any new tricks to get out, he just ran out of the spawn and started shooting at the snipers with his nail gun and they kept killing him.

Guess what, try new stuff and keep playing you will get better against the class you hate.

midmaps could be designed better to alleviate this. at present they're very linear, so there's only so many routes you can take..

No, it just seems to me to be a lot of effort that's not really necessary to enjoy the game. Putting in more effort than is fun. But that's just my point of view. I used to think conc jumping was ghey but once you get the timing right it's loads of fun.

I just want to point out that I love the sniper. More so in TFC.

I don't agree that sniper doesn't fit into FF. I think that's bullshit. Sniper may not fit into certain people's idea of FF, but it certainly does in mine.

However, the sniper needs work. It's definitely...off. Even in TFC, it was off. As much as I loved it, it was definitely off. I eventually avoided playing it, because I could feel how imbalanced it was.

It just needs improving, but definitely not removing.

Dont normally chime in on such a first world FF problem but feel compelled today:

IMO, if you are getting owned 20x's by a sniper, you SUCK! Try some skilz maps

If you think b-hopping is lame, learn to SNIPE! (prob having a hard time hitting them)

If you snipe from your sniper deck only, change to a spy, cloak and explore the maps. Beyond the deck is a whole new WORLD! Caution: watch out for snipers, there little red dot gets real big on you when you are cloaked.

If you cant snipe, change to a soldier...hey you only have to be within 20' of them to do damage

Play the damn game how you want to, using the class you want to, where you want to and STOP telling everyone else how, what and where to play, ITS A FRIGGIN GAME!!!!

Actually, in Attack and Defend matches and pickups, sniper is a common class to be played and is extremely effective/encouraged.

For fuck's sake, people, you have guns. You have flamethrowers and rocket launchers and grenades and pipes and railguns and kbars and asscans and sentry guns and all this shit.
If a sniper is bothering you, sneak up on the sniper and kill him. Camp out until he switches class to deal with you, then run away. Problem solved. Rinse and repeat.
I don't care if you're bitching about sniper on Aardvark because 'waaah its an open map he can hit me whereever i am'. Go medic or scout, conc across the yard, bash his face in with a crowbar or give him a terminal dose of aids.
It is not that fucking complicated.

How about a respawn delay for the class? Possibly map specific?
Aardvark for example...you take the time out of your day to beat the batshit out of a sniper on the deck, and he's back from spawn fast enough to shoot you in the ass as you jump off. Whaaaa? Delay his respawn and the special trip to kill one makes it a worthwhile trip for your team.
Truth be told, going out of my way to kill a sniper is always worthwhile...or at least enjoyable.

On a serious note, how about penalizing suicides?

5 seconds even would be great. Would make you think twice about just shooting the ground to respawn with fresh nades . . .

Ehhhh, that's too hard to do without pissing a lot of people off. Sometimes, demos or soldiers (or any class with a frag gren) will kill themselves off if it includes getting two enemies in the splash. Should they be penalized for that, even if they're not abusing grenades like some do? I don't think so.
