Fat Princess

Edit: This is a PSN game.

I'm surprised there wasn't a thread about it.

Anyway, it came out yesterday and it's a blast! For those not in the know, it's a class based game that revolves around killing cute characters violently with different abilities and weaponry depending on the class.

The title, Fat Princess, comes from the main capture and flag variant of the game that revolves around a princess that you must capture. There's also magical cake that grows from the ground that you can feed the princesses to fatten them up and make them harder to carry. The result is that the person carrying the princess is slower depending on her weight.

Here's some more info on it:

It's really a blast.

It's $15. Worth the cash.

It's a blast. I'm having fun with just the single player stuff. Bots, gladiator mode, the short story mode... all fun.

I can't comment on the online because it suffers from BF1943 syndrome. Tons of people trying to do stuff and it just isn't working well for many.

Well, my experience with the game has been mixed. Everyone attempts to host 32 player games, and those just aren't very fun to begin with. To make this worse, there is no game search. Instead, there are two options.

1. Quick Join. This puts you in to a random game with a random game type and a random map.

2. Non-Quick Join. This allows you to choose what map and game type you want to play.

So, I can't choose a nice 16 player server where my individual effort actually matters some.

On top of that, melee characters (warrior, early worker) are highly redundant. The warrior, as a whole, is pretty terrible. He has a medium speed walk, the most health (doesn't mean much in this game) and has a melee attack.

To beat the warrior all you must do is walk backwards and tap square. Every other class, other than the early priest and early worker, can defeat the warrior like this.

To explain why the lag is terrible, I have to explain the only way you can dodge attacks in the game: Jumping. Jumping is the #1 thing you do in this game. It's terrible. People jump more here than they do in FF and TFC combined. It's all anyone does. On top of this, if you spin your stick around like an idiot, all attacks, except for the dark priests and the ice and fire mages non-lock charge ability, will miss the majority of the time.

So, imagine the above. Everyone jumping, spinning their sticks around like crazy while auto-locked on to the enemy (really, you have to have a feature like that in a game like this, it's not a bad thing) shooting their projectiles... and now introduce lag.

Now everyone is jumping around, teleporting randomly, moving about at incredible speeds for short periods of time, or just freezing mid air. Then, you die. All because I can't choose what server I want to join, or set the criteria for a server I want to join.

With that said, the single player content is kingly. Gladiate mode is a blast. This game would be rape face if the multiplayer wasn't a laggy, unbalanced, crap fest.

Also, dark priests are OP.
