FortressForever? Team Fortress Forever!

I was thinking ( A few seconds ago ) why the name is Fortress Forever.. And not is Team Fortress Forever.
Meaby you thinking now what the F* is he talking about.

But when i watch movies on Youtube or find stuff on google i only find Team-Fortress Classic and Team Fortress 2. And not this great mod!
I think that Team Fortress-Forever would be mutch mutch nicer or meaby when a update is coming out then Add it to it.
Who agree with me? Or dislike this idea!

I think i like it. Maybe when people hear about it with the Team in it, they would acknowledge that it was a Team Fortress game like TF2, which everybody has heard of.

Copyright Stuff doesn't allow this to happen, AFAIK. Team Fortress is a Copyrighted name.

I'm pretty sure the FF MODers thought maybe the "Team" in TF was implied by now, and that the style of play is referred to "Fortress" amongst the longtime players. "Fortress Source" would have been okay, but I'm thinking they wanted to separate this game from something that could be called TFC:Source....even though it slightly resembles it.

Another equally valid question, is why is the word Fortress is still in TF2? The original TF was all about CTF between 2 teams invading each other's fortress. Now there's barely any CTF in TF2, and fortresses are just about non-existent. Of course, they'd then have to call it something else, which would negate it being a sequel, and the 2 would have to go also. Maybe "Team Combat" or "Team Fragging" would be suitable substitutes?

Team Fortress Forever makes it sound like a clan or something. But yes, I sadly do agree it would increase popularity. Also is it possible to contact steam to list this mod on their 3rd party mods list on their store?

Well, way back before you all were born

Team Fortress is not copyrighted, but Team Fortress Classic is. The original TF was free, like FF. When Valve took it over, the agreement was that they could have it, but had to be free and called TFC and was released with HL 1 to give it some publicity.
Or at least thats what I read some where a long time ago.

It is called Team fortress 2 because the guy who came up with the idea of team fortress, made TF2. So really TF2 have every reason to be called TF2.

I kinda like Team Fortress Forever, actually. It adds a bit more spunk to the name while clarifying that it's a TF-game. Just having 'Fortress' in the name might seem obvious to some, but I'm sure that most people don't have a clue and just write it off as some kind of random weird-ass neo-phuture-mod.

If there are no copyright restrictions then I think that would be a good name change idea.

But changing names can be dangerous when you've already developed yourself. Existing players who do have yet to hit the forums might lose their game and not understand.

Remember, the bar must be set low.

I love the name...but I think changing it this far down the line is kinda a too little to late senario.

BUT that's not to say the members of the community can't call it that? Start referring to it as "Team" or (Team) Fortress Forever in vids and other forums and shit and it will catch on...this is the interweb people...look at rick rolling!
