clip tool

anyone have tutorials on using the clip tool. seems that when i use it and delete the part i dont want.. the part i do want becomes wireframed and then dissapears i tried the curves that you are doing zorro it came out nicely using the vertex tool. but then when i went to check for problems it named it as a invalid solid structure everything seems to be going wrong for me its as if my eyes were going to pop out your brushwork looks very good compared to mine. by the way if this helps im using a 32 sided cylinder for the curve part and 2 blcoks for the sides, then im just using the vertex tool to move the cylinder sides to form a curve like the one you previewed. Im always having bad days with this editor

First off go to www.snarkpit.com for all your tutorial needs.

For the clip tool problem, you say the part you do want gets deleted. It may be something more considering I don't know how much you know about Hammer. However, for the clip tool, once you have selected your object and picked out the cut, here is what you do. One half of the object will have a bold white line around it, the other a thin red. If you were to press enter, the red part would be deleted. Press the clip tool button again and that will invert the white/red. Or press it once more to make the whole object white and the neither part will be deleted. The latter is probably your best option, make the cut, then make sure it is what you want, ungroup the objects and delete the desired one.

Hope that helps, visit www.snarkpit.com though, the forums there are the best for mapping.

Zorro in that picture you just posetd with teh red circle on the lighted curve i saw that on the ramps sides it had a yellow balck texture in a slant like this / / . is that yellow black "caution" texture in the hl2 hammer texture file? i cant seem to find one like that.

Shift-x cycles through the clip modes; it's a handy shortcut
