yah you should definitley contact them.. if not for the sake of respect then for the sake of not waisting your time.. odds are that if they have already started making the map themselves than when it is released people will most likely play the original mappers version rather than yours.. hmm that probibly sounded like english is my 2nd language

I remade a whole bunch of Counter-Strike maps (and others) for the mod Counter-Life (adding monsters and such, making them work ass coop maps) and contacted valve regarding that.. And they said it was no problem as long as I didn't make any profit out of it.. Don't know what the deal is with "ordinary people" though
