Hi, real Newbie question :(
hey,
This might seem a bit amusing to some of you but i'm gonna press on regardless Where on earth do i find the original standard maps used in tfc in a format i can explore in the hammer editor thingy? EG: i want to find 2fort.bsp on my pc as a single file... where is this? It's not in tfc/maps or anywhere in the entire tfc file structure as far as i can see... sorry for being so thick :/ thanks Duncan |

the .bsp are compiled maps, and thus you cannot open it in hammer. The original map file have not been released, so as far as I know, you can't open 2fort in Hammer. But I'm no mapper, so I'm not positive

The maps are all located in .gcf files. You can find a tool to explore those archives here: http://countermap.counter-strike.net/Nemesis/
As for opening them in hammer, you're only option is to decompile the .bsp into a .map file. This will however produce a .map file where the world brushes are in the form that csg split them into during compile time. This will leave you with a mess of invalid solids, missing textures and misaligned textures. In short, the .map file will not re-compile and can only be used as a guide to re-create the map from scratch. |
