I still get the sounds, but I might just be fortunate.

The sounds I think are fine...it's the same as the medic call and has been in TFC like that forever, it's comforting.

I haven't ever tested the icon, but that would be nice if it's not already there!

No, nobody's going to kill you, many of the FF players, including the devs, play TF2 too..
BTW what could be really awesome if SGs also made some screwy noises when at around 20 > health..
