TF2 Dustbowl(valley?) screenshot
Computer Gaming World was eaten by M$ and is now Games for Windows (that'll get em readn it). Heres a scan of a page about HLe2 and TF2 with an interesting screenshot... mining town eh? BRILLIANT!
Also note the comment about "hardcore TF fans", true as it may be... http://oneworldon-line.com/fmroot/nex/gfw.jpg |

Valve lurkers ftl?
I guess that video was plastered everywhere though, and with the resources/staff they have, making up a part of a dustbowl map that appears very similar to a video released 2 months ago shouldn't be terribly difficult. Either way, what a bunch of a douchebags |

I agree. What a major kick in the nuts!
The FF team should do a version of forts very similar to there's! Even making the flag a briefcase! Although I know the FF team is above such cheap tactics, it still would be funny. Last edited by o_tyrus; 11-14-2006 at 05:51 AM. |

ouch!
If it's real, I suppose it must be good to know that the dev team's ideas are considered good enough to rip off by a professional studio. |

That dustbowl looks so awesome
I think I might kidnap a few of the dev team once TF2 has been released and get them to mod FF onto TF2 |

Lol, you just rescaled that other image :P
Anyways; quit whining everyone; they released images/videos of the western 2fort theme long before the FF dustbowl video was released. If I'm not mistaken they were actually the first to release anything wester-related before FF did so how can you blame them for ripping it off? (and seriously if you do think they would rip off you're just being silly!) |

OMFG!!! Curse Valve for recreating one of their own maps in a theme they had already chosen in a prior map!

Valve has been working on TF2 for ages, so the assertion that they may have copied our dustbowl theme is ridiculous. Do you know how long it takes to build maps & art assets to the standard Valve aspires to? If you did, you'd know that there's no way in hell they could suddenly pull that out of the bag in such a short time. The chances are that they've been working on the (current incarnation of) dustbowl for as long or longer than we have, and certainly many times longer in terms of man-hours.
As others have pointed out, the rustic 2fort screenshot was also released before FF's dustbowl trailer saw the light of day -- we had a smile to ourselves at the time because, without context, it looked a bit like the dusbowl stuff we'd been working on in terms of style. We hadn't shown dustbowl at the time, and valve's 2fort has a similar run-down artistic style. I.e. there's no way in hell they copied us, so knock that notion on the head right now. humm the screen shot looks sexy, as for it looking like the FF version, I would bet money on that just being a coincidence.
Looking forward to playing both games next year |

The new TF2 was always going to be a bit western, 60s-themed game. Stop moan plz.
