There was a problem with the demo's, which is fixed now (I think)

The real problem is it takes a crapload of effort to make a good movie. Even getting the footage alone takes time, effort, and annoyance due to all the quirks/bugs of Source Demo recording. Not to mention that, by the time the movie is made, we've probably changed/fixed a bunch of things so the movie is outdated/misleading.

There are still bugs large enough to be seen in random video footage? Instead of small situational bugs?

Well it seems jon squashed one of the most annoying of the demo-related bugs -- the "auto pitchdown" bug, but we still have to contend with the fact that demos often turn out super-choppy on a lot of players' systems.

Mine seem to turn out mostly ok (one of the reasons I made the video), but I don't really have time (or disk space!) to work on another one. I'll see about recording some demos next playtest I attend and sending them to someone else to play with. The main problem with that is the fact that pretty much any binary update invalidates the demo, so the person would have to keep FF intentionally out-of-date while working on it.

Well, I don't know if I'd call it a bug, but we're still tweaking the railgun visual effect. Also, we're finally fixing the 3rd-person weapon model alignment issues.

On my front, I'm still tweaking the Hint display (the spiffy transparent box makes the text too hard to read over bright backgrounds).

In general, though, it's more Source demo issues than any major reticence to show unfinished shit.

cant someone just use fraps to record a bunch of 30 second clips of, say, concing, defending, capturing the flag, etc, and throw them together real quick?

its not a proffesional video but its better than nothing

Personally I would forgo the latest demo's because they do involve time. That way the time could be spent on the fixes for a quicker release date.

TDM is cool but am almost creaming myself in anticipation of FF release.

I assume the primary reason we haven't seen a 'quick clips from FRAPS' video is taht the dev team doesn't want to have to explain EVERY FUCKING DETAIL of what's happening at :09.6 every day for 3 weeks after the video is leaked.

Just let yourselves be surprised for once :/
