Somebody has got to get it under an hour if it is ever going to be shown on G4 TV. I think it is cinema tech or something that ocassionally shows speed runs. That show might be 30 min though so I guess they will have to splice out the boring convos.

Im willing to say that under 1hr is virtually impossible. I dont quite want to go the whole way and say it is impossible, because if someone manages to find a way to skip some major dialogues, it becomes a very real possibility, however, until this happens, it would be one hell of a feat to get it under 1hr.

after watching every last minute of it, I have to say I'm impressed. Is there a website that explains the rechniques used for this video? I picked up on much of it after watching it for 1:30, but still not exactly sure how to execture those long-range schrapnel jumps

I haven't watched the video yet but does it use jumps with the gravity gun on objects? Is that what Nuggs is talking about?
I remember watching a video last summer when HL2DM was newly out and there was some pretty cool stuff you could do with the gravity gun and a plank of wood. |

Nuggs, there are some txt files that come with it, which explain most of, if not all, the tricks and shortcuts that are used, and there is also a txt file which explains each trick that is done, map by map. (Think the guy who wrote them had too much time on his hands....)
Yes, gravity-jumps are included ghost, but I dont think thats what nuggs was on about |

The video was good but I believe he was using some sort of hack to gain advantage - I could be wrong though.

thanks alot valk m8.
The speed is not a hack, we were trying to get a hl2 script to continually loop the jump button, and we were sure it was possible, however we could not find it. So we use a small external program which basically when held, continually presses jump. Lots of people on other forums have complained about this, and said it is hacking, or unfair or whatever. It is most likely "do-able" through a normal hl2 script, but as none of us were good enough to make one, we used this. At the end of the day you can think what you like, whether this is cheating, or fine or whatever. The gravity jumps are just practice. Personally I am not very good at them, it is purely timing. The trick is to try and aim the gravity gun at the corner of the object, and duck and jump at precisely the right time, and fire the gravity gun. Also, if you have alot of speed, this will often give you alot more air. oh, and thanks for the (mostly) good reviews so far. |

Just watched it through, some boring bits (almost exclusively the NPC bits) and some bits were a bit dark, so much so i couldnt really see what was going on, but on the whole a very enjoyable spectacle.
The sand traps and the highway bit were a joy to behold, I dunno why but I always enjoy watching fast bunnyhopping and this was quite breathtaking in parts. I also liked the bits with the hovercraft. an admirable achievement, well done. |

I'd say not sharing that kind of a program publicly and only giving you the advantage would make it cheating. So cough up some URL.

sorry, i didnt leave the name out on purpose, honest lol.
http://www.autohotkey.com/ As you will see once you try, although this makes bhopping extremely easy (hold-the-button-easy) controlling the bhop is another thing entirely. |

The problem with doing HL2 any faster is that it will detract from the game. Yeah you could do it faster, but it would just be people clipping through sky boxes and shit.
