3d view in hammer dead
Well, I've been making an FF map in HL1 hammer (it runs better a lot of the time than HL2 Hammer), and am now ready to drop it into hl2. So I open the rmf in Hammer, and....no 3d view! I double check by opening an hl2 example map, and that has its 3d view just fine. I flip back and there is simply no 3d view. I even select all the old textures and replace it with a dev texture, but no luck. Anyone have a clue?

There's a camera tool (one of the buttons on the left), which you need to use to put a camera into the world. After that the 3d view should work fine.
This 'feature' has only been in since a recent sdk update, but at least it means that maps remember where the 3d view was looking when the file was saved. |

I've had this problem as well, though mine is a jump map for hl2dm. The Source SDk has been giving me problems. Valve needs to stop updating stuff and messing it all up. If it functions, leave it alone!

Defrags suggestion works easiest. This is the latest stupid error by Valve. The camera just spawns so far away that you can't see jack, and you'ld have to zoom for around a year.
