3ds max would be a good place to start

Or Maya, XSI, etc. If you are truly looking to make your own models and have no idea how to do it, you have a long and difficult road ahead of you.
If you actually mean textures/skins and not models, then Photoshop or some similar image editing software is all you really need (you might need VTFEdit to convert to/from .VTF if you don't get the .VTF extension plugin for Photoshop). There are countless tutorials on the internet for Source texture editing.

Hi,
I don't know if this would be the right topic to post this in but here goes nothing. I was wondering if it would be an idea to redo the skins completely. as a TFC player I'm very impressed with the way you guys have managed to stick to the old concept and with the mappers redoing the old league maps its just like the good old days. However, I think the models itself could use some work. Seeing others wanting to create their own player models why not ask a few designers to knock us up with some models to pick from and maybe have them implemented into the game? I dont really have any good arguements to back this up though except that: 1. I'm tired of these Bruce Willis guys walking around in tight jeans. 2. I like the old TFC models. 3. Emphasize I. |

I agree that they need work, but getting all new models isn't really going to happen any time soon because:

I love the concept drawings that were released before FF. I've always thought they should've matched up more closely.

the models match up great but when you add the textures over it, it goes from great to smeh.
