New Map: RJ Rocketeer *pics*

First, I'd like to just put a link to a small, revised, rj_shiroobi. All I did was double to triple the dimensions of the jump so there is space to move. If you haven't downloaded/played it, good. Don't. This new map is by far a better beginner map. For everyone else who has a copy of this somewhere and plan on putting it somewhere, then I'd update.

Sorry, had to get that out of the way. This new map is designed with no grenades, rockets only. That leaves Scout/Medic classes out but the Demo/Pyro classes are in. I have no idea if the maps possible with them so feel free to experiment.

Map is big enough to accommodate four players simultaneously so there is no waiting (like Midori pretty much), with 14 areas in all. I tried going with a new clean, aesthetic, look through out the map, hope you like it. Map's difficulty is easy, with a few intermediate thrown on the end. Personally I didn't think the map was going to turn out that great due to no grenades but it turned out a lot better than I expected and I recommend it over my last beginner map highly. I plan on converting this to TF2 so if the map gets any playability I may make an advanced version, who knows. Hope you enjoy and thanks for your time. Of course, thanks to the FF development team as well. If not for them, we'd all be wasting our time with something else :P

Yeah, those aren't random. They are below the packs.

Yeah, I couldn't really decide on a color for the spots under the packs. I wanted to keep most of the map dark with only the parts that were important highlighted, hence edges of jumps, holes, packs, etc.

Try Midori, everyone seems to think A7 is impossible. It'd be a little easier now with the release of FF 2.0. The lighting still could use some work, my first attempt at something such. My mapping skills are not uber like the other guys on here and props go out to them cause it takes so damn long just to get something made. I spent over 30 hours just on this from making to testing and this is a small map, so kudos to all you other map makers.

You could always do what I do, just play with the sounds off :P I haven't used sounds since QWTF. FF so far is the first mod that makes this easier with the timer on the HUD, the other versions, to get real accurate, had to time with the text messages on screen.

Thanks Llama, appreciate it. To conc, you could always just edit the 'lua' file. All the supply packs use the same function so finding it wouldn't be a problem, heh. I don't conc at all but I'm guessing the map be too small for the power of the concs? I'm not sure but hell if it's doable conc-wise (sure it is) feel free to alter to add gren2's to Scout/Medics.

I liked all those light thingies, made the map less "flat-looking" and i didnt felt they where placed in random spots at all, it was fun, good for the ones who are starting.

And doompiggy, if u want challenges, u will have to wait till the quad thing to come to FF, meanwhile do concmaps, u got a couple of serious challenges there.

I don't know if I've played Midori... I know I've played ShiroObi, though.

Quad already is in ff, and it's way too easy. Even piping is easier...

Well I can't vouch for piping or quad rocketing, but give Midori a try, a few of those jumps will definitely give any experience jumper a nice challenge. Not saying it's 'the l33t35t of l33t' (sorry, please no pun ), but just right for when you need that extra. Can always go through as another class too to change it up.

I think its great to have non quad rj maps for a while before adding quad.
In TFC there where only non quad maps at start. Today very few enjoy those maps in TFC, but if you wanna play a skills map to improve your skills, a non quad, no nade rj map is far better than with quad. For people who only play skills maps they want quad as you can do very spectacular jumps with it.

Yup, the current quad in FF is very easy, but its just to adapt as a mapper and make it hard. It's no problem making hard jumps with the current quad.

But I would wait to see if the dev team decides to implement quad before making some huge quad maps. Maybe they decide to tweek it, which would make any map done now with quad, non doable.

Jump 13 is a challenge with demo. Also, pyro is broken unless you give him nades/cells in the packs; with those, pyro can complete it.

The current maps aren't supposed to be challenging, no worries though there'll be a couple hard ones soon

You understand me well Llama, nice having someone else in the boat Most of my fortress time was with QWTF and traditional rjing was all there was so yeah, that's what I'm just used to and enjoy it more than the others. Nothing wrong with the others, their perfectly fine too.

Sorry squeek, I only test with Soldier and just leave the others for anyone else who wants to fool around. That is one nice thing about lua though, can just add them and run the map yourself or on a custom server for a change.

Thanks all for playing. I got about a week before I gotta get back to side work so gonna see what I can get started on this jump pad map, for the hell of it.
