Getting Around Comcast's Bittorrent Throttle

THIS IS NOT A "warez" TOPIC.

As many of you may know, Comcast has started to throttle seeding torrents. When it sees a user uploading via bittorrent it sends the user a reset command.

Normally you want to forward your torrent port from your router to your local computer for faster speeds. However, it seems that the reset command is sent VIA that port! So by turning off port forwarding, you are able to seed (I was able to for a little bit) because the reset command is never received.

That's why I love my country.
People don't even care about bittorrenting here in Brazil. You can download and upload anything, I mean, anything you want.

DSL has the speed that cable gets throttled down to.

Flood them with support calls every time it happens. Couple hundred people do that and jam up their support lines they'd re-think the policy.

This reminds me...
One time I got a cease and desist letter telling me to delete my Pokemon Diamond and Pearl ROMs that I downloaded thru bittorrent from my ISP. But my little brother already had the actual games on his DS, so it was perfectly legal to have them... anyway, point of my story...
ISP's hate torrents?
I wonder if I still have the letter. I might scan it and upload it for epic lulz.

Is this related to why uploading anything lags me out everywhere?

Even uploading to FTP does it.

You could just have an incredibly low upload speed.

Just go to your local office, and throttle the first management level person you can get your hands on.

It works for me.

Common highspeed cable is 6 megabit. When just six people in an area use it, you're looking at 1 megabit per person. My DSL is 1.5 megabit :P.

Then again my boyfriend works for the phone company (CenturyTel in Lacrosse, WI), and 10 Megabit DSL is becoming standard in urban areas. In fact, in order to keep customers, most are getting upgraded to 3Mb+ from a standard 1.5 for no extra charge.

I don't know about your area but DSL or cable is NEVER symmetrical in the available bandwidth. You may have 3 MB download on cable but your upload is 128K...period. DSL may be 1.5 MB download but upload is typically 256kb. I have an upgraded static DSL service which has 3 MB down and 512kb down. Making the assumption that Circ has asymmetrical service that would explain why he lags when uploading...he's saturating his circuits upload bandwidth.

I do have incredibly slow upload speed, but it doesn't explain why I download incredibly slowly when I upload things.

I've got Vonage, to boot, and if I upload something it sounds like I'm calling across the world a couple of times. The delay is absurd.
