FUCK WTF GOD FUCKING DAMMIT
Hopefully the FF team doesn't take this 'bad' news as an opportunity to relax a little. All be it, they may need it, but...then TF2's delay will be bad news all around, instead of just to TF2 fans. |

They're not relaxing, more like kneedeep in work. This is school and work time for most of em, which is why we don't have any updates, I'd wager.

I said this informally to my mates, but when Valve said Q4 2006, I said that it will more than likely come out Q4 2007.
Summer is Q2 or Q3... I would wager that it will still get pushed back yet again and come out Q4 2007 or even 2008. Either way, FF already had good chances of coming out before TF2; now those chances are just improved to an even greater degree. |

I don't see how this is good news for either FF or TF2. In the last year, the American TFC community has dwindled very sharply. I would say it's pretty close to being on it's last legs. I don't know if the same thing is happening elsewhere too, but if it's another 9 months before either of these games arrive, there might not be very many players left to play them.

This will only lead to FF being indirectly delayed even further also, so bad news either way.

hehehe, ain't Valve just sweet?
Anyway, I'm waiting (in order of importance) for Fortress-Forever, Q4F and... Portals. It looks really nice, way better than the original (irrrr, he's talking bullshit again... no wait, http://www.nuclearmonkeysoftware.com/ says Narbacular Drop really is from the same developers... do wonders ever cease...) But if you want to flame me for my personal opinion, here it goes: I'm completely indifferent about the delay. I've considered TFC dead for quite some time now so I don't fear it might die some more... I don't have too high hopes about a lot of players starting FF after experiencing TF2 since to me it looks like TF2 will be strictly a public game. If you're into pubbing, you will probably be contend with whatever public game you get, but since I don't pub that much (only ETF on Kindergarten) I don't care and wouldn't know about that anyway. The only good thing I (and probably the others who seem to rejoice about the news, as well) see about that is, that people who want to play TF on HL2 as fast as possible might get hooked to FF... if they know about it. I told every possible TF-player I know about it and I will nag them to download it until I can't bare any more non-playing ^_^ And even then I might phone them while playing! PS: I will definitely try TF2 as well (when I buy Portals) but I doubt that it will get me hooked... And I also want to excuse myself for my Bush'ish grammar; I'm hungry, I want to get home now and English is not my native language. |

Ok, who didn't see that delay coming? Raise your hands please....
... ...no one? I think this is good for FF. I think TF2 coming out at all is good for FF too, but I think that this is more optimal timing for FF. It'll give FF more of a chance to become established, for leagues and lots of custom maps to come out, and so on. Mods need some time to develop, even if they're coming out with version 1.0 as a first release. When TF2 DOES come out it'll draw a lot of people into TF, and lots of those people will then notice this other mod that already has a developed community behind it. On the other hand I want to play EP2 and Portal right now. |
