I asked because some people were having trouble getting past the "sending client info" step due to a weird router issue.

In Argentina almost all the players have this "bug?", its really annoying, mostly for the new ones that get mad and cancel before it loads and well, you know what follows.

Uhh, no. I just loaded up HL2DM and it loaded as fast as an HL Engine game for me.

mine does that but it's not such a bad wait to complain about it. its not my harddrive because it's really fast (dont know the specs off-hand) So I'm thinking it's my ram, I got slow shitty ram. Corsair Value Select shitty.

the only time I really get pissed is when I'm almost done connecting to a server and BOOM map change. Which usually prompts me to get up and get something to drink or something.

I just got HL2 and TF2 and was having the exact same issues with agonizing load times in TF2. Then I found out about FF and hoped it would be better, but nope, same deal.

It takes at least 4-5 minutes to log into a server. But usualy it takes longer only to eventualy time out and give me some crap about how my map doesn't match the servers even though I have the 1.11 update.

I get the exact same issues in TF2 with wrong map this and freezing up that.

I think the reason why a lot of people aren't playing FF or TF2 is because of these really annoying issues. If I weren't an old school hard core TFC fan I would just say screw it and move on to another game.

It only takes seconds once you have started ff for the day and played, but once you exit, it takes a while again

not true...I run vista and after playing on a server / in FF for a bit, things run about 20x smoother.

thats what i meant. it runs smoother, as vista has a much better caching system than XP.
