[REQUEST] Warpath
Someone needs to remake this map. I mean, TF2 got it before us (their version sucks though)

I support this idea.
I've been experimenting in hammer, but nothing concrete yet. If someone wanted to properly do a port, that would be awesome (keeping it in the same theme though). |

I think with the faster base speeds and game play diffs the maps should be slightly tweaked to adjust for them. But even a port over would be great.

I kinda found Warpath to be almost too big. I'd be interested to see how it plays without expanding on it at all.

The bad bit:
As I recall, someone was working on a warpath port long before FF was even released, but he and it seems to have dropped off the face of the planet. The good bit: I'll do it. But I'd like to make sure that o_osiris (whom, I believe, was originally working on a port) isn't still around, that no one else is doing this. I don't want to step on any toes. I should have a direct geometry port of warpath running in FF in the next couple days, depending on my free time. Don't worry, I don't plan on making a shit looking replica of the original when all is said and done. I've been mapping for seven years and I think I can give you guys something worthy of the name warpath. Structural/layout changes might also be made, depending on community input, but I don't think it'd be neccessary. I agree, warpath was just a tad too big. So ya, if I shouldn't be doing this for whatever reason, please speak up! |

SkinkHero, I saw in this thread from quite awhile back where you said that you were going to port it? Were you still working on that? I've ported a good deal of the original geometry but don't want to move forward if you are making a warpath as well. I think it's a shame when a game, especially a mod, gets thousands of versions and betas and remakes of one map. Makes it confusing for new players and splinters things.
If you aren't, then yes, I plan on keeping the original theme but updating it and then possibly drizzling on some awesomesauce. |

Speaking of the LUA, I wrote warpath LUA for the Mongoose's map Waterhazard, and wrote up the following article on the wiki detailing it's usage: Link to article.

Warpath decompiled alot messier than I expected it to, so I'm still cleaning it up. I'll be posting a new thread as soon as there is something worth showing. |

This is a good map, making it less of a walk from the first spawn to the bridge would be a definite bonus.

Is anyone working on this still? Obviously mappers should take as much time as they need, but I'd love to see some works in progress. After dustbowl, warpath was my favorite map by far.

I am involved with about half a dozen maps and mod's at the moment though, so the work is slow going. Rest assured though, I've made immense progress and some people with lower standards might even be inclined to release at the stage I am at. Warpath will be around 100% custom materials sounds and models too, so it will take awhile. Screenshots will come when I think they are worth looking at. |
