This would be far from the biggest mistake Valve has made heh. Wouldn't surprise me if they hadn't known about it.

No, just click on the Mod you want to play.

Also how can this work online?... I need to see if it works online, I doubt it since you don't get a Steam ID from a demo right?

Well you know how you can play two on the same acc diffrent games at once? ie you play hl2dm i play CSS and it takes sometime for it to notice, i think that could do the trick. play for 30 mins, get booted. restart steam 30 mins. etc.

Well I just tested it out.

It works online when I try it on an account that had TFC and other HL games. I installed the Demo & it worked.

I made a new account, installed Demo and I could not play Dystopia online.

I guess it works if you have a steam account already.

I wonder if it will work when you get a Week Free pass from DOD:S unless the steam ID is temp.

Maybe the FF team could get a cut from Valve if peeps are buying HL2DM purely to play FF? Spread the wealth and all that.

Anyway this has been known for awhile, I used to exploit it by changing the launch params on the demo to have a -game then a path to where the mod was. Worked fine for playing Dystopia & Empires online (PoC of course

Mods are free, not "cheap". I'd never pay for a mod (Looking at you garry's mod!) [No I didn't buy CS or TFC, Steam let me have em free when I put in my HL1 key :P]

Anyway, it's not lame to mess around and exploit things. I find doing that fun =D Just one of the many reasons I use Linux too

The mod is based on hl2, so you should expect to buy HL2 to play a hl2 mod.. seems obvious to me. After all, they did spend a long time creating their physics engine etc.
