Kudos to MS, my 360 was borked at first as well. This probably also has something to do who can't get the Bungie day content that is exclusive today. (Today is Bungie day, because it is 7/7/07, and Bungie has lways been obsessed with the number 7.)

Shoulda given it more stress-testing first... manufacturing defects ftl.

They probably knew that the heat sink would not be enough to prevent failure and shipped them out anyway, hoping that the majority of them would not die out. I bet only the hardcore gamers lose their consoles whereas the casual gamers do not.

Are they serious? I just tried to fix it myself by applying some new silver compound just 2 weeks back. I bet I'm f#@ked now. It would have cost $130 to repair and I didn't have that money at the time, nor now, to consider repairing it. It still doesn't work because I know its some loose soldering in the graphics bus or near the AV out. Think they will still allow me to get it fixed?

hoensetly refurbished systems suck too, my friend just sent his in and the one he got back didnt even last a month before it burnt out again, alas, hes going to get a PS3

I laugh about all the fanboys who are applauding MS for doing the right thing or some such. There is a major problem with the systems that has been known unofficially for quite some time, and now they finally decide that they are going to do something about it, *golf clap* for MS for not defrauding the public

Anyway I hope I'm safe w/ my 360 elite since it is a later model. I guess I'll have to wait and see.
