Things that i love:
Animations of players running etc etc makes the game looks a lot better. Bhop its pretty good Cp instead of carryng flags on maps like cz2 makes it a lot more fun. Things that i dont like: Bugs on epicenter and dustbowl Hw is frickin uber... Sg is kinda uber now too, u dont even need to go grab amo : O Some maps are more laggy Last edited by zE; 09-13-2008 at 05:27 AM. |

Played a few maps, and a few classes and on a couple of servers. Over all I give this a thumbs up.
I found the game laggy at times and on maps that weren't laggy before but I believe this to be because of HDR and or shadows. I'll try messing with that stuff tomorrow and see if that helps. 2Fort is interesting. There are so many ways in and over now. And finally thank you for the ladder out of the water. Spy cloak, while moving, seems to have been messed with and is in general just harder to see, though as a few know, I was still able to pick them up now and then. I was ok with it before. This is just going to make good spies that much better and great spies unbeatable. Sniping seemed a little easier, and I was getting more explosions of people then sending them flying. Demo seemed about the same, though the pipe jumping didn't seem to hurt as much. Heavy is much better and I can see him being used more Engi is much better, he can build the SG faster and just in general I think will be much better with defense. Nail guns are still annoying, they are still way too powerful. The objective icons are a nice feature. |

well im new to FF but i played a good chunk of 2.1 and a whole lot of TFC
first impression is most classes seem good with new changes jump pad only going off when you want it to is very nice i could care less either way for graphics but for those that care its more pretty now sniper changes on the other hand i hate. up damage with sniper rifle fine, give longer time on the radar shot sure, but AR is way too strong, as a solly i was dropped more than once by an indirect nade hit and about 3 seconds of AR firing. a snipers whole point is to be amazing from distance but garbage up close so i think the AR buff was not justified. Also I still think leg shots give stupid amounts of slowdown for too long but that could be just me |

My impressions:
+Lots of visual goodies (lighting, IC cannon, etc.) +several map fixes +hwguy finally usable again +blue pipe time is a huge improvement over 2.0 +sniper is better -Frequent game crashes to desktop (I had basically NONE in 2.0) -don't really care for anticitizen except for the 3rd cap -sentries feel a little too powerful -sentry health feels flimsy (this isn't a contradiction, they feel like "paper sentries of death" as I'm calling them) -hwguy not quite as effective up close as he was before -Spy feels overpowered in smaller games -A good spy in Hunted now makes it essentially broken So kind of a mix I guess. |

yea what they said...anticit and 2fort are laggy....nothing really special....
i love bases... FF overall seems more optimized... i love the bunny hop ... however linux isnt out yet so i havent played an actual pickup...that will be the real test as to how this game plays out... first glimpse at it tho is real smooth! |

For the crash can you look in your Fortress Forever directory and post the .mdmp file in a thread in the Bug section of the forum?
As for the spy thing. I personally agree with you, but everyone else argued with me. |

UPGRADE YOUR VIDEO DRIVERS IF YOU HAVE ANY CRASHES
It's just a simple first step. Plus, I crashed on the new 2fort. Actually, I crashed and had to terminate the game twice then the 3rd time it crashed to a BSOD and memory dump. Then after the boot, I crashed again. All of these happened while LOADING 2fort. I checked my video drivers and they were rather old. After an update, 2fort is completely solid. So once again, I was reminded the importance of current drivers. |

For my impression of 2.1; I like that the spy is fully invisible while standing still, and the new sonar pretty much renders an invisible spy dead within seconds of even coming into the sentry's view. When I switched to heavy weapons, I thought: "Holy shit? Is his spray this accurate?" and was awaiting raged players as I mowed them down with ease. However, it's not that accurate at super long ranges, and people usually keep their distance, so it's okay. Anti-citizen? Well, it's unfortunate the sunglasses don't work. I haven't played 2fort yet. I'll do that now, if I can. Watching the video, I was disappointed with the new IC cannon, yet playing with it is a different story. It sounds and looks bad ass. For me, this is a pro, but it might be too imbalanced for others, but the heavy weapons guy shreds the hell out of sentries now. I like it, but then again that's greed talking. o: Heavy is my new favorite class, now. Like said, his accuracy is up so I can actually get a few kills in before.. dying. Also, I fucking hate sentries, so the fact he puts them out in two seconds at a decent range is a plus. Last, the jump pad's manual activation will take some time to get used to, but it's good. I don't remember how many times I stepped on it thinking "Why the hell won't it work?" |

2fort can have my babies. Played it on a 2fort server for like 20-30 minutes, but they had gravity at 500. However, that made flying with the pyro fun and easier. :P
Had fun with spy, engine build time is awesome, havent tried hwguy, and at first expected the jump pad to launch me on it's own. So far, good game!! Need sleep to work on a transmission tomorrow though, so I cant stay out all night. |

My impressions:
+Lots of visual goodies (lighting, IC cannon, etc.) +several map fixes +hwguy finally usable again +blue pipe time is a huge improvement over 2.0 +sniper is better -Frequent game crashes to desktop (I had basically NONE in 2.0) Listen to 4est. I've had no problems so far -don't really care for anticitizen except for the 3rd cap you'll be on the third cap most of the time. hot damn that map is fun. -sentries feel a little too powerful If anything THEY HAVE BEEN NERFED. the pushback changes make them a lot easier to get past, but the damage has been increased to counter it. -sentry health feels flimsy (this isn't a contradiction, they feel like "paper sentries of death" as I'm calling them) the variable changes are hardly noticeable. -hwguy not quite as effective up close as he was before wut -Spy feels overpowered in smaller games -A good spy in Hunted now makes it essentially broken So kind of a mix I guess. I dont mean to sound like I'm bashing. just my two cents. |

NNNOOOOO MY GRELLOWS
I LOVE 2.1, EXCEPT FOR 1 THING, the green pipe tweak, damn greens dont have the same power as in 2.0, i was boosting concing scouts around the map with 6+ pipe det traps, detting them dead on and they just hop off the det and out of reach.... But this is an early call, and ill give it a couple more days, PROPS on the blues though they are where they should be now, very cool blues.
