you should have put something between those two statements, just to break it up a little.

Yeah, I'll have some pics up by the end of the night; I thought about it when I made my post but I was compiling and my comp would never forgive me if I ran any other intensive program during a compile.

When I said I've used the models I meant earlier in the map, I have a start room that leads to a teleporter so I reused some of the machinery / lab models D:

It's "you're" and problems is plural so it's "are" as well, however, your original point about me being a noob is quite correct! =p

Do you have lighting entities in your map yet?

Yeah, I have the light entities set along with the glare / sprite thing. The map around each light is lit up fine, it's just the lamp models that don't seem to be effected.

I've also changed the placement of the the light and lightglow (I think that's what it's called) on a few lights in an effort to fix the problem but that didn't work, which leads me to belive I'm doing something fundementally wrong =p

Black models: does this only happen if you let Hammer start the game, or does it also happen when you run FF normally? The former usually causes glitches.

The glass pic, #3: If you use too many transparent textures in one place Source can get confused as to what order it should draw stuff(z-sorting). I see some suspicious lines in the glass in this shot. Did you carve a hole in the glass or something? Keep your glass brushes as simple as you can. If you must have a joint in some glass, use the nodraw texture for the faces inside the glass.

depending on the glass texture that you're using, it's only meant to be applied to one face of the brush, with the remaining faces covered in the nodraw texture. maybe it's something to do with that.

as for the models being lit right, have you done the whole cubemap thing; placed cubemaps in your level, and then entered 'buildcubemaps' in the console when you first run the map?

What was it... uh... I downloaded Portal, and when I ran it some lights were messed up like this. (Some models were also missing textures.) I had to check the integrity of the files and defrag them before everything was fixed.

So maybe something is corrupt in the map or on your hard disk?
