Allergies

I got seasonal allergies and that's pretty fucking annoying. Today was the worst day of the year, and I know it's gonna get worsterrrr. Each year when I'm at the peak of the allergies, there's always the same thought that comes to mind: "I'd be sooo much better dead."

Am I alone with this? Anyone else got those fucking allergies destroying their lives???

When I lived in California I had terrible allergies. I would sneeze until I got a bloody nose, itch my eyes until I wished I had some 40 Grit sandpaper to do the job for me, and had seasonal asthma that would put me on steroids every spring. There were quite a few days when I thought death would definitely be preferable.

Now that I live in New Hampshire, it's much better. a little sneezing and itchy eyes, but that's about it. Asthma is gone which was the worst part for me.

No, because smart people with allergies get things like Benadryl(generic is diphenhydramine), or Claritin(generic is loratadine), or Zyrtec(no generic yet, but it still is OTC). (Allegra may or may not still be out there, I have no idea.) Because the first two have been out forever, they're pretty cheap for a lot of them. Benadryl is an as needed antihistamine. Claritin and Zyrtec are 24-hour antihistamines, so you take them once a day, and that's all. Now, for these next ones, you need a prescription, which means going to a doctor. Flonase is an amazing drug, and the other nasal sprays are great too. As far as I know, the nasal sprays are prescription only, so you'll need a doctor to decide if you should have it or not.

Another good helper is Sudafed. The real Sudafed, the one with psuedoephedrine, and not that phenylephrine shit. But that's for more sinus stuff. I have discovered an awesome combo for me, of Claritin D and Flonase. Allergies haven't bothered me in months.

I have never had allergy problems until this year. Now I'm munching Zyrtec every day almost, popping some sudofed behind it and maybe some tylenol for the fucking headaches.

I've never seen Zyrtech here in Canada. I tried Claritin, didn't work at all. Aerius, same shit, Allegra no luck, Reactine, nope. So far the only drug that kinda works for me (most of the time it works but some days when the allergies are very intense it doesn't work) is Advil Cold and Sinus but it works for like 4 hours only and it's 2 pills which means I'd have to take at least 6 pills a day and I'm afraid it's not good for my health.

So yeah, I tried a lot of those allergy drugs and they didn't work on me. I got 20 pills of Aerius left here so I'll give them another chance but last year they failed on me. I guess I'll just have to try some other new shit and prey that it works this time.

Active ingredient in advil cold and sinus is pseudoephedrine, just get you some full strength sudafed and don't worry about the NSAID ulcers.

Slap a small amount sticky stuff around your nostrils (and a little bit inside the nostrils (not all the way up your nose!)) and underneath your eyes!

Vaseline, coconut oil, beeswax...all of which have achieved better personal results than drugs! Vaseline smells horrible though, so I usually avoid that.

There seems to be some danger with pseudoephedrine....? The Sudafed drugs using this are found behind the counter and not in the aisle. I'm looking at the Sudafed 24 hours tablets, 240 mg of pseudoephedrine lol! That's quite a dose it seems. That shit would help me out for sure, I'm just afraid it's not good for me to take that shit every fucking day during summer.

I might try Sudafed PE Sinus and Allergies to see if it works. They say it does not contain pseudoephedrine so....

Should I worry about that pseudoephedrine shit?... I'll google it.

FYI... Costco has both generic Zyrtec (in drug section as Allertec) and Zyrtec-D (in pharmacy as Allertec-D). They also have generic Benadryl.

pseudophedrine was being used to make meth, which is why it was removed from the shelves and now only available behind the drug counter if you sign for it. It's very good for drying you out, but can increase your blood pressure/nervousness/sleeplessness amongst other things.

Zyrtek works really well. My allergies are really low-key so most of the time I just suffer through with some itching and runny nose. I'd rather deal with the pollen than the dry, cold winter air anyway.

Benadryl is great for making you drowsy; I don't like it.

I would really like to try Allertec but it's not available in Canada it seems. I can't find it on the costco.ca at least, but I see it on costco.com.

pseudoephedrine is a derivative of ephedrine which is one of the key ingredients of your diff types of methamphetamine's (crank, crystal, glass) that is why it's behind the counter. Your cooks would refine it to abstract the ephedrine to make meth with.

Alright then. I just bought some Reactine Allergies + Sinus with 120mg of pseudoephedrine in them. The Reactine Allergies that I tried a while ago didn't have pseudoephedrine at all so this time it should work better.

I'm allergic to chocolate and I'm also lactose intolerant.

Of course, there's no cure for my allergies, but Claritin helps with my problems with pollen.

Pollen usually kills me. But the past two years I've been fine. But this year I'm getting a pretty heavy feeling in the chest.

Except that's really a bullshit reason to have it behind the counter, and at least here in the state, require an ID to buy it. All you need is simple organization and you can have a lot of pseudoephedrine and not be suspected. It really makes it a pain in the ass to get the Claritin D though, because they come in boxes of 10 or 15. So every 10-15 days you have to go back to get more. Sure you can get 24 hour pseudoephedrine and loratidine by themselves, but I like to keep the amount of pills I have to take down if I can help it.

If you're having sinus issues, a steroid and pseudoephedrine(not phenylephrine, a lot of people have problems with it not working nearly as well) are the way to go. Granted, you can only get the steroid legally if a doctor says you should have it. The steroid will expand the nasal passages and whatnot, and the psuedoephedrine will keep it clear of mucus and stuff. But talk to a doctor, they actually know shit for a reason.

If you can afford it(time, money, and all that jazz), sh4x, go to an allergy specialist(could be any type of doctor, don't really know if they have a special name or not, but an MD is what you want to look for since osteopaths in Canada aren't physicians like they are in the US.) and see if they can help you. They can try different drugs to see what helps the most, what you're specifically allergic to, and if need be, they can help desensitize you to it.
