left 4 dead 2 demo

Anyone here playing it?

Do you think the game is going to live up to all of the hype?

Got that shit as as soon as you could pre-order it. If the demo is any indication, the game will be well worth it.

I enjoy the gameplay still but I don't think I'll be buying until I get done with other stuff. It didn't pique my interest as much as I had hoped.

I've said it many times... L4D2 makes L4D seem like a bad HL2 mod. The over-all interface was polished up VERY well. Anyone who clames that L4D2 is a cheap remake clearly hasn't played the demo.

Are many things the same? Of corse they are! But the changes, fixes, and additions are FANTASTIC so far.

Some people might try claiming that L4D2 is "L4D with more main weapons, secondary weapons, grenades, health, fire-modes, common zombies, special zombies, and an improved GUI" ...It's a new game. On that list, what ISN'T changed? Health packs. I have not seen non-regular health packs.

I still feel that L4D2 could have been an expansion. I'm not very convinced by the demo that it was worth $50, but maybe that will change once I get to see more of the content.

Felt sluggish and consolified to me.

Aiming with the mouse was not as fast or as precise as I'm used to in QL or FF. It made the game tiresome after a while as I could imagine myself going back to QL/FF being considerably worse at aiming due to growing accustomed to the way L4D2 felt.

It's not a bad game, bit of fun but not one I'd buy.

I'd rather play Zombie Apocalypse if I want a crazy little zombie game.

Overall, I am happy with the gameplay, special infected and new weapons in L4D2.

My one compliant is that the first 2 levels seem really short - too short. That might have been to keep the demo size down, or to "ease" players into the game.

But it was the same thing in the original left 4 dead. The first level of No Mercy was short, especially if you compare it to Dead Air or Blood Harvest.

Defib unit, replaces health pack, if someone dies you can use it and bring them back to life.

These are the first two levels of the last campaign, though *shrug*

The L4D demo was VERY short. This is the same way. Short and to the point.

Can you pick which game server you want to play on yet?

That was the BIGGEST turnoff for me with L4D.

You could in L4D Iggy, you just had to type "openserverbrowser" in the console. I assume they left that in for the second incarnation as well.

eh. im still irked that Gabe said they'd update l4d1 like they would TF2. i bought it at 30 dollars for the 4 pack, and 30 dollars is an expansion pack. I really dislike the new UI and the viewmodels. Much too close to the camera, feels like im playing Halo or something. the UI is also too large

The POV DOES seem to close. I'm sure there is a way to fix that...

?? Of course you can. Use the server browser command to bring up a list of servers.

Pull up the console, type in the serverbrowser command and then you have to classic list of all of the servers. Then just pick the one you want to join.

------------------

I was in a game of l4d last night and asked about the l4d2 demo. One guy said it was very "polished" and that he liked the original better.

I have just the opposite point of view, left 4 dead 2 seems a lot more polished then the original. It seems like there has been a lot of thought and planning put into the game. Everything from the maps, to the melee weapons, the the pistols, shotguns, rifles,,,,,,. Part 2 just seems like a lot more thought and planning was put into it.

Good ol' FOV command. I wish I knew why they kept decreasing the FOV. Borderlands defaults to something like 65 now? That's absurd.

well, havent finished playing l4d1 yet since i only got it, played the demo of l4d2, seems more polished, still was fun.

But between both, i Still prefer Killing Floor (except on graphics, f4d2 ftw)!!!
