Shutdown2 Lift
It seems like in this picture
http://www.fortress-forever.com/?a=m..._shutdown20032 that the lift is now ALOT more open than in sd2, which is basically making the engineer keep the lift up almost useless, as any half decent offy will be able to conc up there with out a problem and get the sentry. atleast on the original sd2 it was fairly hard to conc up there, especially when the lift was up. just wondering how that affects the gameplay of the map.. |

It will improve the gameplay.
There is nothing more annoying than an arsehole engineer keeping the lift up; I hope they make this impossible now. |

i still wants some challenge tbh And yup , poor engi , will need new strategie to keep he's sg up but good engi with disp set up at good place can do a lot tbh and still can give offence a hard time |

SD2 always had an excellent balance. I never found it difficult to attack, but then I played scout all of the time rather than medic to getting the sg was never really part of my game plan. Spotting the opportunity to jump on the lift when the engi was dead/out of position was kind of a skill and it almost always resulted in taking out the sg; perhaps that will be a little too easy now. I guess we can only know how it plays when we see it in a clan scenario; if it unbalances the map then I'm sure they'll change it or give an engi a bag up there to make up for things.

keeping the ele up in most leagues is forbidden as it was considered taking advantage of a exploit

Never in Europe.
Over here its long been a staple match tactic and you would never play an engineer in your side who couldn't do it unless you wanted your def to get completely dominated... |

The sentries track better it seems to me now, and they aren't anywhere near as slow to respond if you come up behind them. I never played SD2 in league, hell, I never much liked the map to be honest, so I'm learning the nuances of it the hardway. Like K:D of 3:65.... *lol*

You can't tell something only based on a screenshot. It looks too easy to conc up, yes, but you don't know how is the ramp, for example. Maybe it'll be harder to pass through the soldier there, or something.
Sd2 is very balanced. The engy being able to keep the lift up is just fine. You all know what happens when one medic goes up there. Like 90% he'll take out the sg, and will be VERY annoying to the FR soldier/HW. I personally liked that new lift - more action, I presume. The solly will be much more worried with enemy incoming lift than now. Interesting |

Ahh this is going to be so refreshing compared to TFC, especially on pubs, NO TELEPORTERS. edit: Hmm I didn't need to say this. |

I really hope there is no need for that stupid "keep the lift up" job. i hated it from the beginning. every Bot can do this job.. I really hope in FF SD2 engys have better things to do then keeping up that stupid lift...
god I don't even wanna know how many hours I spent at that damn lift.. I really hate it |

why are you worried about this, judging by the class balance tweaks, i wouldn't expect an FF soldier to completely dominate the ramp like he does now anyways, and to be honest i alway said the lift should just be a func_door. holding the ele is gay, at least make it go down after 5 seconds or so.

It is a violation of the rules in UGC to hold the lifts up. Not that I care either way (easy enough to run them periodically). Just clarifying since no one had heard of this being prohibited.

Makes sense though, in my opinion. A mapper puts things into a map and "breaking" them is sorta... wrong, completely aside from the fair gameplay or sportsmanship side of things.

Should be replaced with an upwards airstream coming from the floor. Much more fun!

the lift on sd2 added a bit of (dare i say...) skill to playing sd2. that goes to both off and def.
besides, sd2 is one of the best balanced off/def maps even with the lift held up |
