Possible release of TFC:S with Aftermath?

In an interview linked from the halflife2.net site, Robin Walker (a Valve employee) had this to say:

Quote:
What new features and modes will Episode One introduce for multiplayer (any plans to include a Source-d TFC, for example)?

Robin Walker:Episode One will ship with Half-Life 2: Deathmatch and a Source-based version of Half-Life 1's multiplayer game.
The interview can be found at here.

The reason I bring this up is because of how Walker answered the question by saying 'and a Source-based version of Half-Life 1's multiplayer game.' The only thing that comes to mind with this statement is TFC, the multiplayer game that was a staple of HL1. Anyone else have any ideas as to what this could mean?

You missed my point, the article states HL2M and a Source-based version of HL1 multiplayer game. The and signifies 2 things being released with the next Episode.

HL1 multiplayer = HLDM.

The original Half-Life Deathmatch.

ya, it was a bit confusing thanks to that ****ots way of completely avoiding answering any question TFC related. He was actually refering to a port of Half-Life 1: Deathmatch, as circ said. So it will have HL2M and the new HL1DM:Source. Not sure why its including hl2:dm unless you dont need hl2 to play aftermath... since hl2dm comes with hl2 anyway, that is kind of pointless.

I said in the comments of the PHL news that this was a wasted opportunity. Many people are humbled by Valves presence, and in this case it turned out to be a episode1/2 plug fest with no journalistic integrity. There were at least 30 better questions to have asked.

He didn't avoid the question, he answered it. Now if the question was "Do you have any plans to include TFC:S with Aftermath" and he danced around the question then you could say something.

Robin Walker was actually one of the original creators of TF for quake, the game that started it all. Since being hired by Valve I'm sure he's had to shift priorities though.

I would be more concerned with the development of TFC:S if FF was not. Howerver, FF is in development and is looking pretty good so I can at least look foward to knowing that a TF mod for the source engine will be released.

"(any plans to include a Source-d TFC, for example)?"

He most certainly avoided that part of the question.

No, he answered it.

Notice the last two words are for example and Robin Walker answered the question straight up which was "What new features and modes will Episode One introduce for multiplayer?"

His response was very cryptic though I don't think he meant it to be. At first I took "Half-Life 1's multiplayer game" to mean a MP game from HL1 (could be TFC). After thinking about it, "Half-Life 1's multiplayer game" probably means the MP aspect (HL1M) as apposed to the single player aspect of HL1.

As to pricing and content: "For HL2: Episode 1 we're targeting four to six hours of new single player gaming plus HL2 DM and HL DM: Source for $19.99 - HL2 not required," he confirms. "For Episode 2, we're planning a similar offering at the same price."

Don't want to start a new thread for that...

Valve from an interview to Game Informer on TF/TF2/TF:S/TFC - Again it's not much, but it's the most they have said in the last 4 years or so.
Quote:
GI: One of the games that I still play is Team Fortress 2…

Newell: I’m not going to say anything about Team Fortress 2.

GI: Awww…that hurts me. (laughs)

Newell: It hurts me too. (laughs)

GI: Well can I at least ask if you would ever do a Source enabled Team Fortress Classic?

Newell: (pause) I’m not going to say anything about Team Fortress right now. I love that game. Everybody at Valve loves that game.

GI: I know those maps better than I could drive around Minneapolis [ed: Where GI is located]. (laughs)

Newell: At some time we should do an article of all the weird things that have happened in Team Fortress development land. There are completely unknown chapters of that history that have not seen the light of day
The full interview here.
