Dystopia mod

There is a thread on this from 2007, but it went into no detail whatsoever, here is a little more detail for anyone that is interested.

Dystopia, futuristic, cyberpunk, FPS multiplayer with a twist.

Dystopia is a different... sort of game from the other mods, it is set far into the future, and has an interlinked realworld and cyberworld. Most gamemodes will require a decker to go into cyberspace, to hack, defend, or do anything, cyberspace uses it's own maps, gameplay and weapons, different from the realworld, but things you do in cyberspace, have an effect on the realworld, whether it's taking control of some turrets, shutting down barriers, or opening doors.

The realworld combat is great, it has a more in depth player configuration screen, you choose your class, light, medium, heavy, each with different speed, health and such, and you choose your implants, add a sprint function, thermal vision, cloak, sound supression, or of course, a Cyberdeck or Enhanced Cyberdeck to enter cyberspace and many others, you mix and match your implants. And each class has it's own range of weapons, 4 per class I believe, obviously heavies have heavy weapons that pack damage, and lights have lower damage weapons etc... But each weapon is unique, with it's own attacks and special abilities, any weapon can be used to kill anyone if you know what you're doing.

Graphics are normal for a mod, gameplay is fairly fast paced, maps often work in zones, moving objective to objective, changing where you spawn and such, the learning curve if you want to get into cyberspace is big, as a normal FPS, medium, there's so many weapons with alternate functions, it takes a while to find the one that is right for you.

The community is average, similar to Fortress Forever in some ways, you'll go on one time and see nobody playing, another time and two servers up with plenty of players, but usually there is atleast one popular server full of regulars. And it has a global ranking system and 42 achievements.

Recommended if you want something a bit different, check out video's and screenshots to decide if it looks like something you may be interested in.

I played the shit out of this before it was polished up. I know the hitboxes actually work now, but I could never get a good game going... Always wanted to LAN it up though.

I don't play Dystopia much anymore, I need to be in the mood to play it, and not much gets me in the mood to play a futuristic cyberpunk FPS with an interlinked cyberworld.

Maybe the Matrix would.. but I haven't seen a Matrix movie in years.
