Mount&Blade on sale
$7.50 this weekend only. I'm not sure what to make of it, it kinda looks like an RPG, but kinda like a platformer as well. Anyone know about this game? Anyone played it?
If so, how did you like it?

I think I played this a while back(I looked at some screens of it), and if it's what I'm remembering, I thought it was pretty good. It's like a first person RPG, and from what I remember, didn't handle badly at all. I'm going to download the demo here and see if it's what I remember.

I played it. It's kind of a RPG. It's pretty fun game.
You start out choosing your character, duh, customizing his looks, then you're set out in the world. You're on a horse, with can carry your troops (if you get any), prisoners, and other stuff. You move him around the map exploring other factions, as well as their towns, castles, villages. You get quests by them. You can go in towns to recruit anybody that's willing to join you, can fight in the arena or something where the fights are automatically set-up, and your weapons are randomized. Plus some villages have different arenas, for example, there's one that has multiple teams. You can loot places, as well as buy weapons and armor from all the places. You can find other enemies, which are enemy horses with a number by them, showing how many units they have in their army, and battle them. As well as do siege battles on castles if you have enough men. Wow, um, yeah I'm not too good at explaining, just try out the full game, (it's not actually a demo, just the full game, but it limits you to level 6) Here's some videos |

What are the controls like?
I'm seriously thinking about getting it....$7.50 is a pretty decent price. Hell with it, I'm downloading the demo.... if it's fairly easy to figger out, I think I'll go ahead and get it. The video above looked pretty cool. Thanks for the opinions guys! Oh, is this multiplayer?

I don't know about multi-player, but from what I've seen the single player should last a while, and for 7.50USD is a pretty good deal.

There's no multiplayer unfortunately. Not yet, anyway.

The combat is some of the best. It makes Oblivion feel like crap. Of course, most games of this genre make Oblivion feel like crap.
I enjoyed it for a while. Stopped playing once micromanaging my armies took more time than the battles did, and if I didn't micromanage them then I would be at a severe disadvantage. I didn't so much like doing the quests. It felt kind of bleh. The combat. That I enjoyed greatly.

Sorry buddy, you've entered reality now, there are no large blue dragons equiped with auto-loading crossbows around this area.

I got the demo, having hopes it might be fun, and then at the second tutorial I quit and deleted it.
I was too cautious walking through the doorway to where I had to learn to block attacks, and taking too long the door proceeded to close into me, trapping me within it, followed by me wiggling out backwards with the assistance of the guy beating on me, which left me stuck on the wrong side of the door with no trigger to reopen it. I found the demo to be enjoyable. I moved towards one town, and got ambushed by 7 thieves. Took me about 10 minutes to stretch them all out on the ground, but I managed it.

Yeah, me too. I figured why not? It's not a bad game, and I can ignore $7.50 over my budget.
I do hope they make a multiplayer for it, though... but I'd probably suck at it.

They must have added more keys a few hours after I tried it, I saw several posts on the M&B Steam forums about it.
But I will say, I am getting raped by the roaming hordes of mounted bandits, even though I'm rich as shit from the tourneys. Maybe I should have built an army before I started exploring. |
