Quake 4 anyone?
Anyone here play quake 4? I thought it was pretty good, the large outdoor areas were great, but the level design was pretty bad. And the final killer was having to backtrack so much.

I liked the story quite a bit, gameplay was fun too. Never did multiplay.

SP is pretty underrated, it's not perfect but it is very fun.
Never did multiplayer, and although it looks amazingly fun, it is dead. |

Never got super far into it due to computer problems, etc, etc. Need to reinstall it again and give it a go. Been playing Quake since the original came out, but I always seem to stop playing it after so long.

I wasn't joking. I remember installing Q4 on a PC and I really thought it only had multiplayer...

If I dare ask, why exactly was the singleplayer not good?

It was just kind of boring. The only part of it that wasn't boring was the cutscene where [SPOILER ALERT, IF YOU REALLY GIVE A FUCK ABOUT QUAKE 4'S SINGLE PLAYER AT AROUND THE HALFWAY POINT IN THE GAME... HANG YOURSELF, AFTER YOU STOP READING!]
Your limbs get severed and you become all Stroggy. And that was only cool because it was one of those: "Hey, okay, my buddies are going to come help me before something bad happens... oh fuck something bad is happening" moments. Then, after that, it became boring again. Had a lot of Doom 3-syndrome: Easy to outsmart enemies, easy to tell when monsters were going to come. |

I never played Doom 3 for 2 reasons:
1) I was told that HL2 was much better. 2) You couldn't read ANYTHING about Doom 3 without 500 people bitching about the lack of a flashlight on your gun. (Thus only being able to play with the ducktape mod). |

Well, HL2 has been "much better" than pretty much every other FPS since it came out.
As for the flashlight, that wasn't a big problem because you didn't really need it. If the room is suddenly dark, expect a vent to fly off the wall, nothing to happen, and then some enemies will warp in. Doom 3 after about 15 minutes gets LAUGHABLY predictable for the rest of the game. Not to mention its expansion: "Doom 3: Still Not HL2, But at Least We Have a Gravity Gun Now!", which, as you can tell by the name... was an expansion pack that decided to blatantly rip-off the gravity gun. |

I never got past the first stage of the expansion. I really liked Doom 3, not revolutionary in gameplay but I'm a fan of the Doom universe. That said, the xpack was shit...

See, I actually enjoyed Q4's sp. Yeah, it was not the most difficult game[read: it's pretty fucking easy], but after trying [yes, TRYING] to play Doom 3, it's definitely better than that at least.

the xpack is really fun when you get the db shotty. its pretty much a rocket launcher in shotgun form (just like the Doom 2 db shotgun!). however, it has really shitty spread, so you gotta use it right in front of an enemy.
