Different jumps compilation

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqn-da-b5w0
Since this will be my last FF vid for a lil' while I figured making it as good as I can would be appropriate. It's a vid showing off as many jumps in FF that I could manage to pull off.

Yeah, double jump conc on xpress would have been a nice jump to include (first hill to the flag, and even after that another from one of the side ramps to the cap)

Other than that, good video.

I did it from the first ramp you see on Palermo by CP 1, and reach the rocks by the shore on CP2.

Hah, some of the later jumps just got ridiculous. There should have had a jump at the end that was like everything all at once. Grenade+conc+dispenser+rocket+pipes+mancannon+emp+ railgun+napalm+flamethrower etc.

Also, the first reply on youtube already said it, but a double jump isn't a trimp. (So like the assisted flamethrower-double-jump at about 1:37 isn't a trimp)

Nay, he didn't double jump. A double jump requires you to jump from a lower location to a higher location to gain the boost. What he did was a trimp.

You also don't need ramps to trimp.

Yeah, we've gone over this 1.2 billion times.

Trimp: while rampsliding, you press jump to get a height boost based on your speed

Double Jump: Two jumps in quick succession give you extra height.

Nobody has proven anything. People just don't understand terminology. As I've stated a plethora of times before, trimping does not require you to be near or on a ramp although common application of it requires you to be on a ramp.

The double jump requires you to have two pieces of land, one above another. This is not the case for the flametrimp, hence why it is called that. In actuality, you are trimping.

Protip: You can do the flametrimp without the initial jump. I.E. One jump, the jump that gets you insane height.

But... trimping is explicitly ramp/angle-related. You hit a ramp and jump and gain vertical height/speed relative to your speed and the angle of the hit.

The flamejump you mention is, in fact, double-jumping, which requires two jumps to occur within a short frame of time for a speed boost. It can be done on a ramp, uneven land, two distinct platforms, or on the same piece of land if something pushes you down.

These are how they are coded, these are how they are named, and these are how they function in every other game containing them.

Your insistence to the contrary is baffling.

Think of it this way, when you hit a ceiling then jump again, you perform a double jump, same thing applies with double flame jumping

Yes. See the first section of this video: http://www.wegame.com/watch/Fortress...p_squeek_Test/

That's double jumping. The only trimping in that video is the very last jump.

Try the flame 'double jump' without jumping twice. You can do it with the same consistency. This is why it isn't a double jump and it is a trimp.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w7x4HJOpNYg

Notice something? How it's exactly like a double jump except it's done on a ramp? Yeah. The thing is, you don't need to be near a ramp to do that. You can do it while on flat land if, and only really if, you have a weapon like the flamethrower. Simply duck while shooting up, immediately aim your flamethrower down, and then jump. This is the source engine at work. It can be done with any weapon in any mod that has push like the flamethrower in FF.

The slide part of the trimp has nothing to do with it. It's an added element to the maneuver that isn't required to perform the trimp. The terminology has been skewed and distorted because, in TFC, the slide was required due to the nature of the game. As is demonstrated in the TF clip, it is not required.

The exact same thing happens in FF.

As I stated in the other thread, trimping and double jumping are the same thing. TFC terminology broke the actual meaning by taking a completely different move and naming it trimp. The slide was never even a part of it and many people who have only played TFC confuse this.

Just watch the video, that is all.

Everything's gone topsy-turvy.

By the way, I like the term flametrimp 100x more than double flame jump so I'm glad we can keep it.

Had he done that same move on two pieces of flat land, he would have:
  • maintained his horizontal velocity, rather than slowing down, and
  • not gone as high into the air.

Because it would not have been a trimp.

HAHAHAHA THE WORLD IS SO EASY.

blah blah blah
Crouching pops you into the air for a second, you jackass. It counts as a jump, and jumping again off the ground counts as a double-jump. That's why this move works, and that's why it's not a trimp - because NO RAMP IS INVOLVED.
