I'm not 'flaming' here - simply stating a point.

I'm not posting to argue with your or try to start something. I think a 4v4 league would be a great idea, but 'neutral parties' should admin it - not players disliked by the majority of the community.

Ok, so this new 4v4/2v2 league will be the FF.PL (FF.Pickup League), and Vinny and I will be the head admins. Expect a website sometime in the future.
If you guys have any suggestions, feel free to post 'em up (caesiums have been noted). Not sure how to handle the whole EU situation. Perhaps some sort of opt-in type dealie, but it seems like it's going to get complicated. Will have to talk it over with Vinny. EDIT: http://www.ffpickup.com/league/

Updated the first page with what squeek posted. Someone might want to make a new post soonish (Squeek or Vinny).

like you say 4x15min rounds might work but ud probably have to play the same map 4 times, which might be a little annoying. alternatively you could have a home and away match (play eachother twice on seperate occasions)
it would definately have to be 4v4 ovd tho (until the community grows), that is what the format of most maps is designed for. having played a 5vs5 full game the other day it didn't really work in my opinion. maybe there could be a euro 4vs4 and a world 4vs4 league? on a sidenote i think the community needs to put together an avi, showing off the game mechanics and some nice offy moves etc (not mid map dming spies/demoman/pyros), to try and tempt a few more old skool tfc people back. the clan scene would take off a lot quicker with some older faces increasing the number of clans around, instead of new comers taking the time to learn the game before even thinking about joining a clan. |

But as you said, 5v is like... really bad in FF. The only reason it's getting played is due to a lack of players. I also agree with the AVI stuffs. We need a POTW to go with this league.

This doesn't matter if you count each round as a win instead of taking each as a score. It's also not a major con as you're playing multiple rounds (4, where you switch off who goes first). There is an advantage, just like there is an advantage to being on the red team in CTF. 4v eliminates one set of problems but brings in another. One side/person will always have a natural advantage if everyone does not go at the same time (like any running sport, as an example). It's just how the human brain works. If robots were playing, there wouldn't be any advantage.

That's only the first result for "psychology behind red winning", but that should answer your question Skanky. |
