To be honest it isn't just comcast, i've got a server sitting on this thing and i'm pulling at most 3 kb/s at 89% while uploading at 100-400 it kind of rises and falls.

edit: server is on Savvis' network.

An FYI: I posted the offical torrent on demonoid.
Make sure you don't use the "re-post" because it will be DEAD slow

Should've torrented the SDK Base as well, steam is killing me at 5-30KB/s. I already had the full sdk installed, I don't know why it can't take most of the content from that.

Edit: Oh right I thought the Base pack was free to everyone, not just those who bought hl2. It just reminded me when steam was first released and all the content servers were making corrupted downloads, so torrents were the best way to get a working copy back then. Steam isn't so bad now that I think about how much it's improved since then. I imagine they just have the base pack on 1-2 content servers.

My torrent went really fast, only took 15 mins, but I was getting 700-1000kB/s. Hehe, be playing it pretty soon, no one is barely downloading from me, and I can seed pretty fast! I'll leave it on after too cause it doesn't slow my net down much.

havnt been able to try the game much yet as i just upgraded my computer and im having trouble getting any source games to run so ive only run it on my buddies pc.... but i should be able to fix that tonight

i am seeding @ 100kb/s from where i am now until i leave in 8 hours, and 60kb/s from home
until i get steam games working

anyone explain why i can download halflife 2 at 550kb/s and the Source SDK base at only 5-30kb/s - *EDIT* nm getting SDK at 200 kb/s now

It'll probably be your ISP. I max at roughly 110kb/s, Plop. Do not need to set-up or tweak anything really. Just put your connection type in options>speed guide.
