FF + Windows 8

I will be upgrading to a new computer soon, and I'm wondering if Fortress Forever will run on Windows 8? Or should I just stick with Windows 7?

Thanks.

I'm pretty damned partial to Win7. Is there a real reason for me to upgrade?

fuck no. Windows 8 was cheaper than 7 because it was their foot-in-the-door to the mobile world. It's good, but I still prefer windows 7. There's too much that is completely different than the feel of a regular windows OS that I end up changing back anyway and win7 is the best thing since XP.

C&P of a post of mine:

Unlike previous new Windows releases there's no real need to upgrade to 8, unless you're one of those people who likes the latest things. However, I don't see a reason not to.

The core Operating System is just as good if not slightly better than 7. It's the removal of the Start Menu that is dumb.

-Faster boots, possible slightly better performance.
-Improved Task Manager.
-Pauseable File Transfer.
-Multi-monitor support
-File Explorer
-Windows 8 adds native support for USB 3.0, which allows for faster data transfers and improved power management with compatible devices
-Windows To Go

Don't believe the jibba jabba about bugs and incompatibility of many things. It's mostly feedback from noobs judging it from pre RTM or very early days at release. I have been on 8 since October with no problems. EVERYTHING worked for me.

8 is overly judged by people who are lazy or the computer illiterate. Yes, the Metro/Tile interface is dumb on the desktop, but you can use StartIsBack and correct file associations, done.

It's not like disabling and removing from Windows is a new thing. IE, Media Player, Movie Maker, Outlook, Media Center, UAC all have to go/disable for me anyway. It's just 1 more thing on the list, no big deal.

Or you can wait till Win 8.1, and have your start menu back.

Wrong. They're pointlessly adding a button that links to Metro stuff, NOT the Start Menu.
