.PAK to .VTF/.VMT conversion

Yeah yeah, I know I harp on this tooooooo much but anyone found any easy ways to convert quake PAk files containing textures to something usable in HL2?
I'm so clueless when it comes to making textures!

suitable quake textures for hl2 > NONE size of hl2 textures is bigger
pk3 files countains png textures, if you open them with photoshop and save them as vtf
(with the right plugin, and i don't remember where i found it, i think interlopers.net)

Uhhhhh, HL2 textures are exactly the same size as decent Q3 textures. Most of the good Q3 textures are infact tiff or jpeg files not png files. You must be thinking Q1 or Q2. I'm probably out of luck ether way it goes though.....I surrender!

Winrar......they open in winzip too, I used to use wizip to make my pak files then just change the extention. It was a simple process back in those days. lol

Umm no I just checked pak0.pk3 and there's only tgas and jpegs in the textures directory. png is a compressed format, it'd be slower to load up tbh.

i don't have q3, i have only some q3mods like rtcwet and sof2

i've redone the whole gui of sof2 so i know wich files i've openend

but anyway, photoshop can open all those formats, and it has a batch function so you can easily convert them with photoshop and vtf plugin

You do your own HL2 textures right? Where's the best place for me to gain a better understanding of this new HL2 texture thing? I've got to go ahead and do this. If I waite on the dev team to release their set...I'll loose interest. I know they have bigger fish to fry but my A.D.D. is kicking in. lol
