Team Fortress 2D!

Hi,
Seems like a lot of fortress fans here, I thought this might be interesting...

This is what FF would look like on your commodore 64 or atari 800 back in the 1980's
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2008...m-fortress-2d/

going to run a server for a couple of hours for fun... look for the stinky server , it will be a dedicated amd dual core +4800 with 4 gigs of ram total over kill.

Looks more like later 8-bit, rather than the older stuff...maybe even early 16 bit(SNES). It looks kind of amusing, though.... Ditch that music, and I might give it a run.

I would definately say it ressembles the commodore 64 look(which is an 8-bit console but you get my point)
Gang Garrison II

Commodore 64

NES

Early SNES

You've obviously never programmed for the C=64. The sprites simply don't move like that.
Therefor, it had to be more for the SNES. Although with the graphics emulated to look old school, while adding in the newer animation capabilities.

I obviously haven't. While animation capabilities may be the defining factor for you I think most people would look at the graphics as a whole and find them much more similar to C64 games rather than those for NES or SNES.

It's not just the look..... it's the feel.... the playability. It could have been TFC or TF2...... the graphix really can't be differentiated with that pixilation. The way they animate is what sets it off.

Then again, most people are shallow as a puddle and will accept pretty much anything.

Maybe now is a good time to say that it was programmed to be a ?-bit version of TEAM FORTRESS 2, a game apparently very unrelated.
If you look at the loading screen, it resembles that of the one for TF2. Along with the design of the characters.

I understand this. It could have been for either.... due to the gameplay, and the graphix. Key word there is COULD.

I'm actually a little impressed with it. It's a pretty decent representation.

Pros: Plays alright
Inspires me to make my 2d Rocketjumping game
actually pretty damn fun

Cons: Engi and Spy are useless
You can go above the sky if you try to battlement to battlement
You slow down in mid air, instead of keeping your initial velocity [from pipe jumps]
Scout is wtf hax awesome
Lack of delay on pipes make Demo crazy. You can double or triple jump.

edit: apparently the version on RPS is outdated... gonna go find the more recent version.

edit2: all versions [current, and older] are here: http://gg2.scose.net/

The most recent [b19] has a working spy. :>
