About the previously mentioned Steam stats page which has mods on it:
Quote:
This page last updated: 1:30pm PST (21:30 GMT), September 18 2006 Average unique users per month: 2,834,131
It's an outdated/unused page which hasn't been updated since two years, e.g. there's no TF2.

Best part about this is it was just one server.

I know I looked at one time and saw 5 servers completely full with 3 others damn near max.

An absolutely great weekend for FF.

Quick clarification for a few of you. The 996 is only the [o-t] server, but spanned three game servers. Here's the breakdown of unique by server:

Friday (Closed between 3pm and 10pm)
Server #1: 283
Server #5: 32
Server #6: 111

Saturday
Server #1: 692
Server #5: 468
Server #6: 418

Sunday
Server #1: 560
Server #5: 73
Server #6: 7

We opened the extra servers to help out the community while the linux problem was being resolved. Chances are we'll remove the extra servers now that things have calmed down a bit.

I've seen lots of new people joining up. I've been trying to welcome as many people as I could, make them feel at home. No offense to the other servers but I've been playing on the OT and NFO servers a lot and have been telling people that they joined good servers that have lots of good rules.

For the most part there hasn't been many that have broken the rules, but most of the people that did, said oops when they seen the rules come up and anyone over the mic I mentioned to them that they should be careful incase an admin comes in and most do stop.

There have been a couple of people that got temped banned, but that was after many warnings by the warning system, AND by people on the server over the mics. I feel that if you get banned for good, its your own fault for not following server rules.

BUT!!!! Its great to see so many people playing, and I do hope it goes up, and that servers are filled and hard to get onto. It just provides me more targets to kill. hehe

On guy last night said he wished there was more servers, that 7 just wasn't enough. I looked at my list and took off all the filters I had on, and mentioned that there were 63 servers. He didn't know what to say. lol but yes when you have all the same filters on I did, there was 7 or 8 servers showing up (ping under 100, people playing, not filled, not locked)

All these numbers confuse me.

So the graph on the first post is all players accross all servers for that day?

1000 people is impressive!

But that can't be right, only a few hundred people playing TF2?

But more playing FF than TF2 yay!

But do I understand?

I don't know

That shows how many players joined the OT servers and in which game they did, as well as the denied connections. So in the past days more people connected to OT's FF servers than TF2's or TFC's

The graph is just from the OT servers. We had three open this past weekend to accommodate the masses of new FF players. As Scuzzy broke down those were the unique connections we had on our server alone and not the entire FF player base.

We also have servers for TF2 and TFC. The numbers you see in the graph reflect the users who connected to our server in those games. If you look back a few days you can see a substantial difference between the amount of people connecting to TF2 instead of FF.. Its great to see that on Saturday we had three times the amount of people on FF then TF2.

Again, a great weekend for Fortress Forever.

Ok... so I pulled the true raw numbers from the dawn of time for our server. The numbers in the graph you see every day constitutes weighted players, those are players that actually played in the server for more then 10 minutes. Since we have reserved slots there's always the chance that some people are going to be turned away. Well, with all of the servers filled the actual count of unique ids to hit the box (all three servers) was 1578 this past saturday. We actually had to turn away close to 600 people on Saturday because we didn't have the space.

Here's the lifetime graph:

Things were very busy after the initial release and they slowly tempered down for us. We had 774 on opening day and I believe we ran two servers for that weekend.

The green dot is the day FF was released. The orange is the day we started hosting TF2.

Actually oil prices have continued to go down; first time under $100 a barrel in a long time. No one really knows why the recent gas spike happened, only that OPEC had a meeting a little while ago. Where it was rumored they were going to try to raise prices and keep it over $100 a barrel.

He's right, as FF becomes more popular oil prices plummet... we MUST keep playing!!!

Indeed they have. For that day there were 1917 unique connections acrossed all 6 servers. 36 people were previously banned and turned away. That's 1.8% for the entire day. Those aren't bad numbers to me, it tells me that 1881 people know how to play, have fun, and follow the rules. We had a great time Nuk3m. If 36 people stop playing FF because they've been banned on our server, so be it, not a big loss to me considering the attitude of some of them.

That's called a slap in the face, in case you missed it.

Y'know what our second warning is?

It's a ban. How 'bout that!
