I liked the NS "type ready to begin" method.

out with the old and in with the new... you have to be crazy to want the old prematch...

I always assumed prematch was so long in TFC so as to give people time to connect

I think that just resetting the entities in a certain time and NOT having to reload the map is awesome. You totally alleviate having to reconnect to the server you are already there. I'm pumped.

Yeah Mulch, that really is a pain in the ass. Thats a damned sight more convenient than restarting. No telling if I'll be clanning this time around, but if I were, I would definitely like it.

Maybe its 'cause I'm wierd... but we didn't restart (unless the time limit ran out) until everyone was ready... we just played a little bit of frendly TFC while waiting for everyone to get sorted

Yeah and then you restart, four minutes of prematch goes by and then someone drops, so you do some more friendly TFC and repeat until you want to punch someone :P

I like the dod:s, what I think someone said NS used...
A simple question and current status are displayed on the screen: "Are you ready?" "Blue Team: Not ready" "Red Team: Not ready" Then whenever any member on a team says 'ready', they're status is changed. Finally, when any member of the other team also says 'ready', the entities are reset and off we go. Its really efficient as far as I'm concerned and a heck of a lot easier than the classical prematch business. |

I have clanned in NS and I also liked the "type ready to begin" style. While being often annoying thanks to the drops, I also liked the TFC prematchs in some way. To me, the perfect prematch style would be something like this :
1/ warmup mode "x" "y" where x is the number of players awaited for the scrim (default 8 ) and "y" the countdown of the following prematch. Players do free play while waiting everybody to be ready. 2/ when all the players are ready, the actual prematch mode is launched (default 30 secs ?). This is the time to relax and concentrate for the rush. The step 1 is what really lacked to TFC imo, because everybody wants to make sure the config is ok and warm up a little bit before a scrim. And all the problems and drops occured during the prematch mode wich was annoying because it is a pure waiting time with a deadline. |
