Wait! Is the original Transformers (from the 80's) considered Anime? If so than I watched that whole damn thing.

There's been many debates on that. Basically, I'd say yes, since the animation studio was Japanese, and "Anime" is basically "Japanese Animation"

Unrelatedly, if anyone is interested in seeing Final Fantasy Unlimited, DON'T!

Along those lines I would think that Code Lyoko would not qualify either since it's from a French Studio. However, it shares some common style elements. None of that stops me from enjoying it though I wish they had stuck with the instrumental song for the opening...the vocal version I thought was a joke when I heard it on the net...ugh!

Already seen it. Just like every Final Fantasy, it has absolutely no relation to the others; thus another true Final Fantasy, like The Spirits Within that so many people hated because they thought it was based on 7 till they saw it.

I didn't really mind The Spirits Within, though I knew what it was about before watching it. The plot was a little weak, and the dialog stilted, but the animation was outstanding. My biggest gripe against it was the fact that it basically bankrupted Square.

FF: Unlimited was terrible by any standard - Mostly dumb, generic and irritating characters, and some of the worst integration between CG and traditional animation I have seen since CG was introduced into Anime.

I admit that I only watched the first 5 episodes, but if a show can't at least interest me by that point, then it has issues

No! My anime message was deleted! No!

Ok, the gist of it was that Hayao Miyazaki is a god among men, and that NausicaƤ is the best movie ever made.

Interesting bit of trivia, if you follow that link to the imdb and click on the picture of Nausicaa standing next to that enormous potato bug, it'll show you a "Warriors of the wind" poster. Warriors of the wind is the worst crime against humanity ever conceived by man.

I just finished watching "Mai Otome" and very much enjoyed the whole series. I usually tend to enjoy any series that can bring tears to my eyes. I know, I'm a softy.

Unfortunately though, I liked "Mai Hime" better. It was a little less confusing and easier to swallow all at once. There are lots of details in the Otome series that you may have pay real close attention to, or you might miss them. Either that or I am just retarded. I think its the latter one! Yay!

Anywhose, if you haven't seen "Mai Hime", what are you waiting for? After that, see "Mai Otome" They are not sequel series however. They are totally different story lines with the same "character" cast.

--
I might have already said something like this (about mai otome) in this forum, but its been a while and I don't remember. Its good for a refresher anyways.

My next venture will be to finish the last 20 episodes of the 74 episode long masterpiece series, Monster! I can't wait!

Current anime for me (I've probably mentioned a couple of these before):

Ergo Proxy - Brilliant, beautiful, mysterious sci-fi series. If you like Ghost in the Shell, Appleseed, Akira, etc. you simply have to watch this one.

Black Lagoon - Action series that's a lot of fun. Curious to see where they will go with this one. Fans of Action Half-Life *must* watch this... lots of akimbo diving action in it

Blood+ - A bit slow, but the story is very good and I can't stop watching. Beautiful animation, too.

Avatar: The Last Airbender - Not 'anime' strictly speaking as it's a western cartoon show on Nic. One of the best shows I've seen in a long time, though. If you like anime, you really have to check this out.

[edit] Lithium - indeed.

ANIME FUCKING SUCKS!

And most people who watch anime are gay pedofiles. Seriusly.
These people go to these anime cons with 15 year olds and watch "yoie" (or however you spell guy on guy animated pr0n).

The bigest problem is the FAN BASE, not the actual anime.

P.S. I am not flaming

I like the Neon Genesis Evangelion movie, especially the scene when Asuka kills the angels with Bach - Air on the background it gives me the chills when I think about it.

Oh it could also be that I just like Bach by the way, I am not sure

Yes, we all know how cool it is to bash anime. So, please keep it out of this thread.

Unless your name is jesse... (forum name!)
