There are two qualities that great POTM songs have in common. Those two qualities are:

1. Ambient. Less vocals, more noise.

2. Loose. It can't be tight.

An example:

http://www.noobflicks.com/watch/2992..._s_first_video

Ignore the TF2 and terrible plays. I was learning video editing.

Songs like that work incredibly well. Despite not liking the genre, it just fits.

I've also found songs that match the theme of the POTW to match very well. Heavier music for more DM heavy songs and smooth rap (not that crunk crap... or any music that sounds anything like "E'RY DAY I'M HUSTLIN H-HUSTLIN HUSTLE HUSTLE") for great concs. A happy medium of Limp Bizkit is not acceptable for O DM'ng.

I think music adds more to the video than clips do. Everybody has seen great airshots or runs. Not everybody has seen it put with music that fits.

I didn't think it fit, actually. And I'm sure as hell that wouldn't fit FF's 100x faster game pace, unless you're making a fun video.

My opinion, for what it's worth, but I just don't see that working as well as you say it would.

Music & crucially, syncing that to the visuals is so incredibly understated as the, or if not, one of the most important parts of creating a (good) avi.

Get that right and everything will just flow great & for uber coolness, sfx, audio & visuals all synced perfectly...

The faster the footage, the better it is. Faster footage means the plays happen quicker, which means you can slow them down and make them seem surreal. Ambient music does just that.

TF2's footage is usually much slower than FF's, resulting in less slow down, meaning that you have to use music that is less ambient to make it seem better.

POTW's are always better when the footage is more like a memory and less like "LOL OWNED".

Ambient music eliminates like... all of this.

I guess it's a difference in tastes then because I thought vid 2 had the worst music. Probably because it's not my kind of music, but I didn't feel anything either. Not that the others were that great, but at least it had a more 'action' feel to it.

edit: damn I miss toon models
