I have high hopes for Hellgate, it looks really original and interesting.
and now a slight digression: The pre-rendered stuff shown at E3 this year was nice yet... I dunno, kind of annoying at the same time. Hellgate, Auto Assault, Guild Wars, City of Villains, Huxley... all had pre-rendered preview stuff. My problem with this stuff: a) it tells you nothing about the gameplay b) false advertising since the real games won't look half as good c) am I the only person sick of bullet-time? sorry kids, it just ain't cool anymore. but apparently you can't make a two-minute cgi game preview without using more bullet-time than all three matrix movies combined. d) why are there characters jumping all over the place like ninjas on speed... while wearing heavy plate-mail armor? I mean, give me a freaking break. the cgi scenes for Hellgate and Guild Wars were almost comical because of that. e) all those aerobatics and ninja-perfect matrix-esqe slaughtering of all the baddies probably won't be possible in the actual games anyway.. blah blah bitch rant moan |

lol jinx
I agree with the pre-rendered crap, true its very nice and sparkly and all that jazz, but id rather much see real time shots and such. Anyways, heard about, but havent read or seen yet, ill edit my post once I read on and look at it a bit. EDIT: Looks fucking sweet. Absolutely amazing to me. I LOVE the fact that it is going to be heavily RPG based, as far as the whole random monster-item drop and customization, as well as character development. You'll have custimization slots, a lot like in diablo2, where you used runes and jewels and stuff, except hellgate probably wont use the runes and jewels but more realistic stuff like handles and such. The storyline sounds solid enough for me so far, and all i know is its hell on earth. My favorite part about it is the randomly generated terrains and areas and how natural some game reviewers who had a hands on say it was. Hell, its not really a FPS at all, you can go first person sure... but its a RPG with guns, basically. Im probably going to customize and go mostly melee, though. :P Theres not a word on multiplayer, but a game like this will NEED to have it. And once we see and hear stuff, im afraid its gonna be very a major hit. Well im not technically afraid, but yeah, itll friggin rock. Im absolutely stoked and I can not wait over a year for it. Im going to have to forget about it somehow so the year goes by quick. Oh, and by the way guys, their cinematic trailers are absolutely awesome, check them out. Very entertaining, follow the links vamp gave. |

While hilarious, Jinx is right. But which is worse, over used bullet time or another WWII FPS?
I don't think we'll ever know. |

What's sad is that I haven't played ANY of those WWII fps titles and I am already sick of them just from the excessive media exposure lol.
