Map idea for FF, somebody maek plx!

Ok.. so if anybody has ever played one of the Natural Selection siege maps, you'll know what Im talking about here:


basically, 2 teams. 2 bases. In each base is an item/structure with X hit points.

the objective of the map is for 1 team to destroy the other teams item. Whoever destroys it first, wins the round. Say, best of 3 rounds to win the map.


Specifics: Enginners can 'repair' the object by smacking it w/ the wrench. (dunno if this is even possible)

items hitpoints need to be displayed to the team some how, or at least some kind of visual indicator as to hits hitpoints.


Maps need to be big enuff to give defenders time to get into position, but not so big that you get lost.

The ideal team size for this type of game play would be 5+


I would suggest the 'siege' aspect be kept in, so people know what kind of game play it would be.

FF_siegefort, ff_wellsiege, whatever. Just an example.


We really need some FUN non-ctf maps for FF. c'mon folks!

Both of those are fairly easily done, I think. Engineer wrenching map-specific things to repair them is something I've thought about before, haven't tried it yet but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be possible.

Could write up the Lua for anyone who decides to map this if they'd like, sounds like a good idea for a map to me

this reminds me of Resistance: Fall of Man on the PS3...they have a gameplay similar to this where Team A has to destroy Team B's generator before time runs out.

It's a really cool concept and really fun when you get a ton of guys playing it.

I definitely support this idea!

Seriously...look at the fan base we could get from this. So far we have:
  • Resistance: Fall of Man on the PS3.
  • killzone
  • unreal tournament 2004 (fucking loved this game!)
  • Metro Prime 3

That's like ton's of people and different platforms. Somebody make this thing it will bring in newbs from everywhere!

Streetfighter 2 Turbo bonus round where you have to destroy a brick wall.

I like the idea, but in my mind I'd have each base have 3 spawn/resupply areas that collapse and are inoperable when destroyed.

Tetris.

Another variation (for later) is to have more than one object to destroy: Four per team, maybe some kinda heart shaped statues or whatever laid around a base.


Kings: Each team has one player that has (for ex.) 300hp. Could be a soldier or demo, whatever, someone decide. First team to have their "King" die loses.

All other players have 50hp (or maybe just normal hp). It'd be boring just to have soldiers playing, so buff up or subtract hp & armor from other classes so that they all essentially have the same hp.


Sudden Death/Paintball blargh: Everyone dies from one hit.


God of the Fort: Two (or more) teams play against AI controlled GOD TEAM to infiltrate and secure a Citadel sorta building. Overpowered aliens and marines would be cool. Robots?

First to cap wins.


Making use of Engy's build abilities: Remember how you'd be able to build on stuff like cars? Well, instead, build on a blank robot mannequin that could be controlled from the inside. Think Voltron or Power Rangers or something.

Perhaps instead of a robot, there could be flying warships. Ships will have a treadmill kinda thing that demos could shoot their pipes onto.. which will slingshot them at the enemy warships. Engy's could build SG's onto the wings and tops of planes.. windows will allow soldiers to shoot at the other team's aircraft. One lucky fucker actually gets pilot the thing.

Oh, and spies can be like Solid Snake and hop onto the enemy's aircraft and sab/stab the fuck out of the enemy team. There may be some sorta nuclear reactor that the spy can destroy to disable the aircraft.

First one to blow the other out of the sky wins. Etc.


Also, airdrops into fortified bases.
