Message mod
(sorry for english, again...)
For FF, I hope that we will have a message mode like in TFC (steam/hl). I try to play TF onto quakeworld, try to play some sh!t on q3, and I see that the conversations on theses games aren't good. In that games you see something on the top of your screen that disapear before you read it... Never have the time to see the last team message of our team. But in TFC we can see all the messages. I really hope that FF message mode will be the same as TFC. I know the voice are better, but in public servers it's not the same. All the players are speaking with the keyboard. Players use flood, etc. And that kind of 'speak' is better shown into TFC, I think. (sorry if theses stuff have already been shown). |

They'll probably use the same message display as Half-Life 2, which was the same as Half-Life which was used for TFC.
In other words, it'll most likely be the same.

Sounds more like a "blideep!" to me but it's been a while.
Also, for someone who feels a need to apologize for his English every post he makes, you do a pretty good job of it. I've seen worse from native speakers.

just don't do a "boing" or something which leads to headaches if people begin to spam all the time. A delay forced between the beep and the next beep could do wonders

You know what would also be cool related to communication is the system they used in Tribes 2 (don't know if they use in the newer versions of Tribes)
It was great because with three keystrokes (one to bring up the voice-command menu) and two to select the message. But it worked good because while you where walking it ignored the key you where using so you still could continue strafing or something while choosing the right commands. Third thing that was good about it was that you heard the message... Here is overview: http://ucguides.savagehelp.com/Tribes2/voicecommand.htm |

You can just replace the .wav file with a blank one. We'll be going through all the little customisations towards the end of development and adding options for most of them.

I've always liked how in HL1/2 the text messages are separate from the kills.
Damn it's annoying in games where the two are crowding eachotehr out! Well this was sure an efficient thread. |

You can change how long (and how many i think) chat stays on the screen with some hud_ console commands btw.
I'm guessing they got passed over to Source. |
