KHED Model exporting?

Hi everybody,

I am trying to change the skin for the shutdown 2 front door. After listening to the advice of grabbing mdldecompiler, im now left with smd files. I went on VDC and found KHED is a free model editor, but I having the hardest time applying a texture to the model, and then trying to save. does anyone have any experience with this software? If it isnt too much work, I have targa files with the textures for green and yellow team. I also have the decompiled SMD files, if I could pass over the files to someone who knows how to use a different tool, if its not possible with KHED.
