Anyone fancy doing a port of...

The infamous Quake Edge dm map

If anyone has quake4, check out their version its really nice.

This is probably my favorite quake dm map ever, simple but really fun.

Isn't it everyone's favorite dm map? I loved it on Q2.

It's got a good design, lots of open spaces with nooks and crannies holding items that you have to do some work to get to. It has distinct areas (the main one seen in the screenshot, an "outdoorsy" one, and one inside the facility with lots of boxes and whatnot) and short connectors, so you've got a lot of action without much waiting.

(This all based on my not-recent-at-all playing of it in Quake2.)

He's suggesting someone ports it. It's in the topic name for crying out loud.

not worth it, most dm maps just boil down to hws and snipers while everyone else gets bored after 5 minutes.

With how spunky FF is going to be, you could spice it up. Maybe have color-coded 'zones', and the more zones your team has under dominance (more players) the more points your team gets? Or just limit the classes to everything not HW and Sniper. Heck, just tether the players together?

yup. didn't like it. and i'm sure many others don't either

whether i like it or not, it seems a bit odd to start a topic about porting a DM map with no further explanation, no? just "hey lets port this map." might as well start threads about every DM map i enjoyed

q3dm6 is way better

I believe there will be things in the FF entity system to make dm better (option for no reloading needed) and he wants to spice up the Mapping forum.
Stop bitching and start mapping!

It really should though. Spy DMing (tranq knife only) is about the only fun thing to do. And concing up to the spectator spot, I guess.

If you think it would be worthy of a port and think someone would be interesting in doing it you should do just that. Look around this mapping forum you'll find quite a few "Anyone interested in <insert idea here>?".

The problem is you can't accept you said something without thinking.

nosir

i thought about it, and i realized it didn't make sense. which is a conclusion i'm still at, as it still doesn't make sense, no matter how many angles i look at it from. i'll accept your apology in a private message, unless you want everyone else to see it

Oh God, quit being a little whiny bitch. Rebo can do whatever the hell he wants, this is his project. There is absolutely no point in saying shit like, "Whats the point in starting a thread saying <blah>" when none of us could give two rats asses whether you think there's a point or not. Its annoying as hell and there's too many posters just like you, its a delicate balance I guess. I'd say the "starting a new thread" method he used is better than sending every mapper a PM.

Heh its cool guys. Remember the great thing about TFC is that it has many sub modes, Attack vs Defense, 4v4, 2v2, Capture the flag, Command Control Point, Escape map, Puzzle map, conc map, pipejump map, rocket jump map, Hunted map, King of the hill, annnnnnnnnnd DM map .

So yeah even if a map doesnt have a huge amount to do with traditional CTF it still can be a part of a fortress mod adding depth and variety to the gameplay.

There was a version for this map where only 4 teams of soldiers were allowed. I imagine something similar would work for this map.

The other thing i'd like to say is that whilst alot of people seem to be doing normal capture the flag in them mapping forum it would be nice to see some different map types.

Hell, lets see a conc map!...
