High CPU use
Is anybody else getting really high CPU utilization on their server? Other Source-based servers hover around 10% for us, but FF tends to spike much higher.
Many people in the server (including me) are expeiencing a lot of lag and chop sometimes. |

Dedicated
Pentium D Dual Core 3.0 GHz 4GB RAM 500 GB (2x250) hard drive 30 Mbit down / 4 MBit up We're also running a Quake Wars server, but previously we were running the QW server with a CS:Source sever and it was perfectly fine. I suppose I could try killing the QW server and see what happens, but that shouldn't really be necessary. |

It's valve's fault! They broke the source engine

I've got dual 2.8ghx xeons with 4gb ram and 100gb hdd..
Running six 66 tick source servers. I doubt it's the QW server. I did notice the FF server peak today... using 25% cpu for about 5 mins... but then it went back down. |

Yea, it's certainly not consistantly choppy, it seems to come and go.
The performance all the time could be a better (might be client settings, I dunno) but every once in a while everybody will start chopping badly. I wouldn't say it's lag, because the pings always seem to stay nice. |

The default tickrate is 33 for a reason, though Maps like Dustbowl (with max players) can bring almost any server to its knees once the spamming starts.

I set mine to 33 yesterday. We got the same 2 minute lage fest on cornfield as we were getting when it was 66 tick.... and it was full the entire game... it's random lag spikes that happen even when there isn't any spamming.

I'm not having any CPU issues, I wasn't having any either BEFORE I put the tickrate on 33 on.
... Bandwidth is another story, it's amazing how much is used; thankfully we aren't worried about that. |
