VVIS stops at 9...

VVIS (Base Portal Flow) stops at 9...

It doesn't get to 10. I haven't changed anything in my current test map (door and snow mentioned in another thread) - I just copy and pasted the file. When I try to compile the old one, same problem.

If I Ctrl+Alt+Del VVIS, the process finishes and the map compiles. Somehow. What the deuce is going on?

But again, the map compiled fine (and quickly before), and now it doesn't - and nothing has changed.

The later stages take longer, sounds like your maps compiling fine then Hammer freezes when its finished. Just to make sure, check the map gives a compile log file when it finishes the compile.

mine did that when i put optimization stuff, like hints.. the solution... did the map all again

tbh im a newbie maper, but sometimes its just stupid stuff for example, i was tryng to do one map and was taking like 5 hours to compile, because i did a entire box for the skybox then pressed control H to put it with 16 tick, then i erased it and build several sides skybox and take me 2 min to compile it..

But, again, nothing has changed in the map... I'll delete the existing compile logs and see if it pops something up. Maybe I should just leave it compiling overnight and see if it finishes.

I honestly think Hammer is just hanging up for some reason.

start using a bat compiler.

open notepad and enter:

Quote:
vbsp.exe "D:\HammerMaps\ff_mapname.vmf"

vvis.exe "D:\HammerMaps\ff_mapname.bsp"

vrad.exe "D:\HammerMaps\ff_mapname.bsp"

pause
Save as... compiler.bat

Yeah just replace the text in quote with YOUR directoy to the map you want to compile. vbsp will create the .bsp file and put it in the same directoy so dont worry about it.
