Spawn Questions

I have two spawn point questions:

1. The FF team alluded to random spawns in a previous thread - I want some verification. Is it true that you will spawn at a random point in the base after you die?

2. If so (or even if not), is there any way to make 'overflow' spawns? For example, I'm making a map geared to ~16 players. I make 8 spawns for each team. But I don't want everyone getting telefragged if the server has more than 16 people - can I make spawn points where people will spawn only if all of the others are occupied? Or would this even be a problem?

Thanks!

Right now our code is to telefrag. We want to eventually push people out of the way or spawn around the spawn point (if all are full) but its not in.

Thanks a bunch.

The way the map is now, as soon as you spawn you fall more than 1 player height, so if there is a delay between spawns things should be fine.. and if I recall correctly, different players connect to maps at different times, so there will never be an occurence of, say, 16 players spawning at one time (unless its a map with rounds - which its not).

It's still a good idea to put in 32 spawns in every map anyway.

I respectfully disagree. If the only places you can put them would be outside of the base (in the yard) or in completely inconvienient locations, then you should just have fewer. Like I said the occurence that more than 8 people will spawn at the same milisecond is pretty low.

And I hope that the FF team will make it so spawn telefrags dont damage your score..?

the number of spawns depends on the map i guess, but if you can get 32 in without having disruption i don't see any reason not to.

Well, if you have spawnrooms they should be big enough to let 32 people spawn anyway, even if you don't think that many people will ever be in the map.

It's just good practice.

My map has very limited space for spawn rooms. One solution which comes to mind is having a spawn outside the map then having the players teleport in either the "offence" or "defence" positions. Any thoughts on that?
