Google Presence
Take a look at this :
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=fortress+forever Not exactly what you want to see in the release month. Any ideas why this website itself isn't showing up at all? And how one would go about fixing that.. |

This has been mentioned before. But Like someone said I soppose it doesn't matter because if you have never heard of FF you're not going to google "Fortress Forever". You'll be link to it.
Still needs sorting of course. |

actually, it does matter.
I too have noticed this and of course, I have heard of fortress forever. However, I usually google "fortress forever" to get to the site. Or at least, I used to. What about those who google it and draw the conclusion that FF called it quits or something? Sure it might not be many people, but 1 or 2 losses would still suck. |

I'm pretty sure the site admin knows what to do considering they've created a fairly decent site. If you want to help and you own a website of any kind, add a link to the front page of this site, something like:
<a href="http://www.fortress-forever.com/" title="fortress forever">Fortress Forever</a> |

The fact that the website doesn't even show up at all on the first 40 pages (aside from a dead link to the old forum location on page 5) makes me think it's less an issue of making links and raising pagerank and more an issue of the site is somehow not even being tracked or is blocked somehow. ...which makes the whole thing more curious.

Yeah this was covered in the old thread. My point of adding links wasn't to boost the actual (Google) PR ranking of the site, it was more of a plot to help remind the Google algorithm that this sites still here and is still popular.
It's worth noting that Yahoo and even the god awful MSN live have no problems with finding the front-page. The only thing I can think of is that maybe alot of visitors to the site use the Google toolbar and Google see the forums as the most active page/relevant for the query 'fortress forever'. Edit - Or Valve own a stake in Google ;p |
