new rig and hl2 probs

i asked some folks here about a month ago on suggestions for my new system, and while I have it now and its 'purty, i am having massive hl2 issues - i guess the known stuttering and sound looping that eventually causes me to crash. i was excited to replay it with all the eye candy on max and now i cant get through 5 min without it crapping out on me.

researched steampowered, but apparently there was a patch that fixed *most* peoples problems? i'm still in the minority i guess.

7800 gt, amd 3200, 1 gig...

is there any other info i could provide that might give you insight to the issue? dxdiag info?

i have of course tried killing anti virus whilst playing and i do have latest vid card drivers.

kinda at an end point here..

steampowered.com support ticket...and submit that msinfo32 report. they will fix it for you eventually.
