He's talking about the High Mileage filters which are often more expensive. Do some research and you will likely find that Fram Oil filters are mediocre at best as filters go. The typical design problems with Fram filters are that they have a low filter surface area as compared with the same size filter from other manufacturers and tend to be restrictive due to their low surface area. There are performance symptoms that follow that particular issue. Because of the low filter surface area you also see early failure of the filters. Also, the anti-drainback valves in the filter are notorious for leaking which allows dirty oil direct access to the drain pan. I could go on....

I havn't had, seen, or heard of any issues with FRAM filters. However, I change my oil every 2k miles, and paying for AC Delco or Motocraft filters @ $10 a pop is a bit too much for me.

Fram was good (never great) many years ago but has since let their quality control slip dramatically and have sought out cheaper designs. You will find TSB's from Ford and other manufacturers that specifically call for the tech to verify the brand of oil filter as a possible problem with things like valve train noise at startup. While they do not mention Fram by name (probably to prevent legal issues) in the bulletin ask any Ford mechanic with longevity in the business and they'll tell you what filters are typically to blame.

It only costs me $15 with a good filter (I'm running an AC Delco PF2 on her right now), so I'm willing to keep the oil nice and fresh as long as possible. I know that it's an entirely different thing, but I know motocross racers who chagne their gearbox oil after every two races.
I'll probably just stick with AC Delco for now (easiest for me to get).

Well I drive my mom's Toyota Camry (manual transmission) when nobody else is using it, but right now I'm saving up for this:
http://www.motorcycleconnect.com/Kaw...nja_250R_1.jpg I'll be able to afford that plus insurance/license/jacket/helmet by early next Summer and put in a full riding season next year. Booya.

I gotta say, I'm not a fan of the crotch rockets. They look like a lot of fun. But personally, if I were ever going to get any kind of bike I'd want a chopper.
...of course I'm 5'6" so riding a chopper would look interesting to say the least. |

A suggestion if you're interested FT. Start with a used bike not a new one. For nearly every person starting to ride it's not a matter of if but when you will dump the bike. If it's used it's not going to bug you nearly as much. Get experience and then go for new.

Nice FT, I've been looking at a Yamaha V Star 1300 or a Warrior, something like these...

Motorcycle Advice
No matter what type of bike you want you need to ride it or one just like it before you spend the money. I have ridden for a long time everything from motorcross to Harley's and some of the bikes I have riddend I wouldn't ride regularly if you gave them to me. Test ride a bike like you will ride it most frequently be that on long open road trips, around town, or on the track. I have seen lots of friends spend a ton of money (usually on liter sport bikes) that just sit in the garage because they don't fit their owner very well.

Yeah, my uncle said go for 600, but I talked to a bunch of guys who all convinced me I'd die if I did. Plus smaller engine = cheaper insurance. Booya.
